A stay at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is always a good idea, but at the moment it is especially so. To celebrate Disney’s new release Frozen mini feature, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure in December, Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is offering some very special Frozen experiences this Christmas and school holidays.

We were delighted to be invited to experience a magical ‘Frozen’ themed Disney Family Fun Package overnight stay, followed by another fun Disney Frozen activity currently being hosted at Sofitel Sydney – the sumptuous Frosted High Tea.

From the moment you arrive at Sofitel Sydney, it’s clear that this is no ordinary hotel stay. The Sofitel lobby is always a grand affair, with cascading crystal chandeliers, plush couches and swathes of beautiful blooms wherever the eye can see. But peeping out from the normal luxury appointments are some rather unexpected additions – large crystal-clear Frozen snowflake decorations!

Disney Frozen has well-and-truly arrived at Sydney Sofitel.

We eagerly checked in and headed straight up to our room. When we entered, the children were ecstatic to find a very Frozen surprise – Disney take-home gifts were awaiting them! Lovely Elsa and Anna plush dolls, Olaf story books and charming projection night lights. The girls were so happy and excited to discover these treats, as you can see in this short video I took to capture the moment!

Special tip – for a super-fun surprise moment, don’t tell the kids that there will be Disney surprises waiting for them in the room!

Our Sofitel Superior room was elegant yet supremely comfortable. We had great city views, looking down upon the stunning Sofitel formal gardens.

There were two double beds with spotless linen.  Sofitel beds are always super-comfortable – something other 5 star hotels don’t always manage to provide. I know I can count on Sofitel for a great night’s sleep.

Tea and coffee making facilities were supplied with everything needed. A well-stocked fridge and mini bar ensured that if we needed a late-night snack or drink, we had it on hand. And if there is something you need, Sofitel housekeeping services or Concierge are just a phone call away with a cheerful “Bonjour!”.

The luxurious marble bathroom featured a great shower, hair dryer, huge fluffy towels and Lanvin toiletries.

One child dines free

The Sofitel Disney Family Fun Package also includes another attractive bonus. One child (12 and under) eats dinner for free with a paying adult at the Sofitel Garden Court restaurant. Sofitel dining is second to none, with delectable choices for the whole family. Dinner at the Sofitel is the perfect way to enhance your special stay – and save on child dining!

The Sofitel Garden Court breakfast room is a gorgeous place to breakfast. It’s beautifully light and airy thanks to the floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the fabulous formal gardens. There is a huge range of delicious breakfast options.

Large padded wrought-iron chairs and tables give this room more of a luxury café feel as you are served your morning tea or coffee, and await your custom-cooked eggs. My children love the honey dispenser especially, here. It dribbles out from a real slice of honeycomb!

Children love to go out and play in the garden after breakfast. This leaves you time to sit back and enjoy a peaceful coffee and read the newspaper – what a great start to the day!

The Frosted High Tea

A little later in the day we decided to enjoy another wonderful Disney treat currently on offer at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth – the Frosted High Tea!

The Frosted High Tea is such a delight. Hosted in the gorgeous Sofitel Sydney Soiree bar, we were escorted to our beautifully set table. Floor-to-ceiling windows showcased the fascinating city-scape outside.

Children Receive a Free Frozen Activity Pack

As soon as everyone is settled in, children receive a Frozen activity pack**. With the kids busy colouring in and sticking stickers, you can sit back and enjoy your tea or coffee. If you want to go fully-Frozen, upgrade for a glass of sparkling wine, or perhaps even one of the Soiree’s special Frozen cocktails (at an extra cost).

The Frozen theme is beautifully woven throughout this decadent high tea. From the silver snow flake coasters and napkin holders, to the delectable Frozen cakes and delicacies.

Served up on traditional high tea 3-tier fine china, you’ll find sumptuous array of delicious French delicacies. Traditional cucumber sandwiches, scones and mini-quiches all melt in the mouth. Cream puffs, dusted (frosted!) blueberry tartlettes, tiny blue mouses topped with blue chocolate curls and blue-dusted macaroons are piled high. Servings are generous – you’ll surely never manage to eat it all!

In true Frozen style, children are offered hot chocolates to drink. They just love sipping their chocolates out of gold embossed china like a grown-up!

One on One with Olaf the Snowman

Samantha and Brooke, the ever-adventurous Let’s Go Mum! kids were delighted to be given the opportunity to interview Olaf the Snowman – of Frozen fame! Let’s learn about what he’s up to – over to you Samantha and Brooke!

Olaf, we’ve been huge fans of you since we first saw the Frozen movie! It’s really great to be here in Arendelle getting to meet you. Can you tell us, what is the best thing about being a snowman?

That’s easy: warm hugs. Oh wait, can I change my answer? (Phew) Good. I forgot you said “the best” thing! The BEST thing is having my own personal snow flurry. No. Wait… I take it back; it’s definitely the warm hugs… AND the personal snow flurry! And a detachable head.

And the worst?

I don’t understand the question.

Never mind. Tell us about your amazing orange nose.  Is it made from what I think it is?

Well if you think it’s made from a special magic Troll crystal, then no. It’s a carrot! A very special carrot that apparently reindeer really like to kiss… a lot!

Do you have any brothers or sisters?

You mean like my little brother, Marshmallow? If you do, then yes! Yes I do. Have you met him – ‘cause he likes meeting new people. Not a big hugger though. More like a big roarer and swiper and thrower – He’s really good at it. 

Olaf, what do you like to dream about?

Summer! Definitely summer. I’ve always dreamt about summer and sun and all things hot.

Do you have any hobbies?

Giving warm hugs. Getting warm hugs. Playing with Sven. Sitting in front of a fire… for a very short time. Ice-skating with Anna and Elsa. Watching Kristoff carry around ice. Staring at the sky. You know, the usual kinds of things.

Oh, no. I said, “Sydney” – it’s a place in a country called Australia.

Oooh, “Aus-tral-eeah”- sounds exotic.

My two little Frozen fans Samantha, 7, and Brooke, 9, were very happy to review this Lego set.  Both girls pounced upon the toy and set to work building it.

This is an awesome little Lego set, it really does have lots of frozen ice effects that any Queen Elsa would approve of! The main construction is the ice palace of course, but there are a few extra accessories included also, such as a sled and slope! There’s a little bit of Olaf fun thrown in too – he comes with his own picnic set!. Queen Elsa and Princess Anna are included too of course, which gives your little builders all three main Frozen characters in just one Lego set.

As I speak the girls are still enchanted with this toy, and play with it daily. This truly is a double whammy of Lego building challenge crossed with a great playable fun toy and figures set – and really, how could a cross between the phenomenon of Frozen and massive appeal of Lego fail? It’s a winning combination, and a must for any little Frozen fan!
