What is Summernats?

Summernats is known for it’s loud cars, mullets and black t-shirts – but there’s so much to this exciting Canberra car festival than just that! It’s a really fun family-friendly event that even us non-car enthusiasts can really enjoy!

Summernats is a huge annual car festival held in Canberra. It’s really popular with all kinds of car enthusiasts. Vehicles featured can be anything from souped up street cars to classic vehicles, rally cars to hot rods.

There are several car competitions held over the weekend. Competitions include presentation of vehicles such as the Show and Shine, and driving skills competitions such as the burn out competition where competitors spin their car wheels to make smoke until eventually something gives – usually the tyres!  There are car cruise parades, fireworks on Saturday night and outdoor rock concerts. This year there was an aerial stunt show several times a day over the grounds.

At Summernats you’ll also find lots of car-themed shopping, every outdoor food stall you can think of, numerous outdoor bars and several display pavilions for car products and hotted-up display cars.

It’s safe to say that although the Summernats has a high admission cost, there is lots to see and do!

One event to put in your calendars for January 2026 is the Street Machine Summernats Australian Car Festival!

Head on down to Canberra for some great rev-head fun as car-loving fans from all-over Australia converge on the National Capital for the Summernats Annual Car Festival.

Summernats 37 2025 Car Festival Canberra – the year that was

We attended on the Friday of Summernats 37 and had an absolute ball checking out the Show and Shine cars, shopping stalls, food, car displays and of course the famous burn outs!

The 2025 Festival ran from Thursday the 2nd of January to Sunday the 6th of January 2025.

Now with its conclusion, eyes turn to planning next year’s Summernats 38. From our day at Summernats this year we gained some valuable insights in how to prepare for a successful Summernats visit!

What are the Summernats 2026 Dates?

The Summernats Car Festival in the ACT will be run a little later next year, from Thursday January 8th to Sunday 11th 2026.

Is Summernats safe for kids?

When I went to Summernats as a 20-something it was all still pretty new, and it fast grew a reputation for young women flashing, drunk driving, burn outs all around the grounds and basically trashing Northbourne Avenue – Canberra’s main road in. The locals in particular were not very happy with how Summernats visitors were treating the area, and families didn’t feel it was a safe environment to take children to. But all that has changed.

Is Summernats Family Friendly now?

Yes! The ACT Government and Summernats organisers worked together to clean Summernats up and make it more attractive as a family attraction. One of the main measures was moving the date of the car festival to after New Year’s Eve instead of during, to avoid combining the two celebrations. Another was restricting the street access to temporary road-closures and a single organised city cruise at the start of the car festival. Permanent car barriers were also installed along Northbourne Avenue.

Inside the venue, safety measures were strengthened with increased security and policing. Fences and barriers now line the internal cruising roads and are speed limited to 20kph, and pedestrian access and crossings are strictly controlled. As a result, Summernats is now very safe – and family-friendly!

What can kids do at Summernats?

Kids love watching the brightly painted, loud cars cruising up and down and burning out brightly coloured smoke. There are kid-friendly give aways in the pavilions, kid-friendly food and snacks and kid-tailored merchandise like blow up swords and even show bags.

For the bigger kids and teenagers there are go-karts, and lots more. My teenager was excited to get a free big finger to wave at the burn outs and an in-person meet and greet with motorsport legend John Bowe at the Rare Spares stand.

What should I take to Summernats?

One thing about Summernats is that it is hot-hot-hot! The weather is usually around thirty degrees, but with the all-concrete and tar surrounds it feels hotter still!

The standard Summernats uniform is appropriately shorts, t-shirts (all black usually!) and huge Mexican sombreros which are available for purchase from around $15.

Cold drinks, slushies and of course many food vendors are scattered everywhere around EPIC, but shade can be sparing. Whilst the reserved grandstands for Burn Outs is covered, the general grandstand for casual day attenders is not. Prepare for the heat.

At a minimum, here are the Summernats essentials:

1. Sunblock
2. Wide Brimmed Hat
3. Ear plugs or headphones for the kids, those sensitive to noise such as for Autism – and for everyone else for burn outs! – Tip: Rare Spares stall inside a main pavilion offered free ear plugs (and big hands!) this year.
4. A refillable water bottle – Tip: there are water refilling stations which are connected to hoses and not chilled, but numerous bars offer free water which is chilled.
5. Pram shades and fans

Prebooking is highly recommended for the following Summernats services and merchandise

One of the frustrating things for day visitors is that even attending in the early days, event entrants have basically sold out some options. Here are some services and merchandise you may like to consider booking in advance:

• Parking everyday
• Casual day tickets for the main day of Saturday
• Season Passes were unavailable by Friday
• Event T-Shirt men’s medium and large sizes were sold out by Friday morning.

How much are Summernats T-shirts?

We bought Summernats event T-Shirts for $50 each, both men’s and women’s. Men’s medium and large sizes were already sold out by Friday and also the brightly coloured bucket hats, so get those first! Also available is a large range of branded Summernats official merchandise including hoodies, caps and much more.

How much are tickets to Summernats?

Adult (17+) casual day tickets start from $85 per day.

Child/Youth (11-16) tickets start from $55 per day.

Kids 10 and under are free.

Family tickets start from $215.

Are there Concession Tickets to Summernats?

No, however accompanying Carers/NSW Companion Card companions enter free.

How much is it to park at Summernats?

Casual parking is $35 per day, however car parks can pre-book up very quickly. The ACT Government offer a park and ride service as a backup. A Tram Station is located within ten minutes walk of the venue.

A massive movie-hit around Australia and the world, we were privileged to attend the Sydney Premiere of WICKED the movie – and haven’t stopped singing yet!

Which is the best family movie to see these Christmas school holidays?

Released by Universal Pictures, this gorgeous Wizard of Oz timeline movie was masterfully directed by Jon M Chu and has already amassed over 500 million US dollars at the box office. But what you need to know is that school age kids up will be enchanted by this great story of the unlikely, charming friendship of two witches – Glinda & Elphaba. I love the moments of comedy and light-heartedness of the story. If you’ve seen the theatre show like us, we think you’ll love this adaptation too. Don’t forget to wear baby pink if you are team Glinda, and Emerald green if you are team Elphaba! WICKED is a great movie all around, and a must see whilst it’s still in cinemas so that you can soak up the vibe of all the other fans having fun getting in to it. If you’ve already seen WICKED, why not go again? There are even sing-along versions playing in many cinemas now!

WICKED is only in cinemas these Christmas School Holidays.

When does the WICKED movie stop showing in cinemas?

The WICKED movie premiered in November 2024, and it’s now available to watch on streaming services. Wicked sing-a-long versions are expected to continue showing in cinemas well into 2025.

The general consensus age to watch Wicked the Movie is 6 and up – with parental guidance. Most of the film is light-hearted and fun, however especially towards the end it does get a little scary and dark.

We were excited to be invited to the VIP Opening of Canberra Dendy’s brand-new IMAX cinema theatre. This truly immersive luxury theatre has set new standards in just how good a cinema experience can be. On the night we enjoyed watching the Premiere screening of Disney’s new MUFASA: The Lion King movie.

MUFASA is Disney’s new musical movie. The prequel tale to the smash-hit Disney movie THE LION KING, in MUFASA we learn the story of Mufasa, Simba’s father. 3. – National Cinemas – MAGIC BEACH the movie

MAGIC BEACH Movie Review

We’ve recently previewed a whole bunch of family-friendly fun for you these September School holidays, and much of it you can only see during the Victorian, Canberra and NSW September school holidays!

1. – Sydney – WICKED the Musical

WICKED Australia is the smash hit musical now playing at the Sydney Lyric Theatre.

The untold true story of the witches of Oz, this wonderful musical is such a treat to see. We absolutely loved it from start to finish, with its blockbuster musical hits, amazing effects and sets.

Before the show there are even special Wicked themed Green Elixer and purple Ozmopolitan cocktails ($22 each) for Mum or Dad to try!

Wicked makes a great Sydney school holidays outing for families with older kids and teenagers to enjoy together!

2. – Melbourne – LEGO® exhibition – RELICS: A New World Rises

Melbourne Museum is one of Australia’s best. We always try to drop in whenever we’re in Melbourne – they have some amazing exhibits, including a full-size, real dinosaur skeleton!

Right now the Melbourne Museum have another reason to visit. The extra-special exhibit for LEGO® Lovers RELICS: A New World Rises is a LEGO® Minifig bonanza. These LEGO displays look simply amazing but really, we would expect nothing less because they are all created by LEGO Masters TV show 2020 Winners Jackson Harvey and Alex Towler.

This first of its kind exhibition is definitely one to check out these Melbourne school holidays. Be sure to give yourselves plenty of time to explore the Museum too, it’s brilliant for kids and truly world-class.

3. – Canberra – Floriade flower festival 2023

If you think a flower festival sounds boring for kids you couldn’t be more wrong! Floriade is an amazing annual festival for every member of the family with its acres of stunning blooms, exciting garden paths to explore, plus more gorgeous photo spots than you can poke a stick at! There’s plenty of retail therapy of the garden variety too.

The kids certainly aren’t left out, and there’s even more than ever this year. The gorgeously decorated children’s gardens are always a hit – this year’s theme is Alice in Wonderland. There’s a super fun comical circus-style performance of Circus Wonderland: A Neverland Adventure in the new Wonderland Spiegeltent plus the essential big Ferris wheel ride and more.

Is there food at Floriade?

You won’t go hungry or thirsty at Floriade! There’s lots of yummy food stalls plus the delicious pop up Agostini’s pavilion Italian restaurant. Bars include the Bentspoke Brewing Beer Garden, Underground Spirits Gin Garden and more.

Is Floriade Canberra suitable for children?

Yes, Floriade flower festival in Canberra is suitable for all ages.

Floriade is free! There is no entry fee for Canberra Floriade.

Canberra Floriade runs from 16 September to 15th of October 2023

What is Floriade Nightfest?

Nightfest is an extra after-hours (tickets required) Floriade event offering running from 28 September to 1 October. There are evening entertainment, food and drink offerings.

4. – Sydney – Waru – journey of the small turtle – Bangarra Dance Theatre

Waru – journey of the small turtle is Bangarra’s first performance especially for young children. A story of discovery and survival inspired by the lives of green turtles. This charming immersive and interactive Torres Strait Islander culture dance performance is designed for small children ages 3-7 years to enjoy.

The show will also travel to several other Australian cities after the September school holidays, including Geelong, Goulburn, Shoalhaven, Cairns and Darwin.

Take a stroll around some of the biggest, most life-like dinosaur robots ever at Jurassic World – The Exhibition.

Oz Comic-Con rules in the ACT!

This weekend saw the OzComicon hit Canberra for its annual event held at EPIC showgrounds – and the event was indeed, Epic!

What is a Comicon?

A Comicon is officially short for “Comic Book Convention”, an event where fans with a focus on comic book culture gather together for an event of usually a day or two in length.

But Comicons have really expanded into so much more than just a comic book fans meet-up. Comicon’s now represent fans of shows, movies, cartoons, games, animes, characters and more.

They are events that welcome a huge range of fans of vast diversity and loves. Best of all they are a great opportunity to bring people of all ages and abilities with the love of a particular fandom together where perhaps they may have felt a little isolated otherwise. Many new friendships are forged at Comicons thanks to a community atmosphere and mutually shared interest.

Canberra’s OzComicon is a very popular event in the ACT

Canberra’s 2023 OzComicon, or OzCon as it is fondly known, was very successful, with thousands of attendees soaking up the exciting and fun atmosphere.

Cosplay characters everywhere!

Character’s as diverse as the famed Thor of Oz to a random Rubiks Cube and Among Us player all gathered together over the weekend to show off, unite and have a lot of fun!

Some elaborate Cosplay costumes were home-made, others commercially bought – all looking simply incredible!

A huge Canberra family-friendly event

Whole families represented their favourite characters such as Mario Brothers and Super Heros. Mums, Dads and kids right down to babies were dressed up and having more fun that at Halloween. After all, you get to be in your costume all day – maybe even all weekend!

Fandoms unite! Clubs, boardgames & Dungeons & Dragons

There were special areas at OzComicon for boardgames, fan clubs, Dungeons and Dragons meets and more. Star Wars and Star Trek fans were represented alongside popular Anime and Medieval fandoms.

OzComicon Film and TV Celebrities

Famous film and TV celebrities were available for talks, (paid) autographs and meet and greets during the Canberra Oz Comic Con.

2023’s lineup featured Matt Ryan (DC Comic’s Constantine and the voice of “Edward Kenway” in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag), Rebecca Breeds (LEGACIES, CLARICE and Home and Away) and Luke Mitchell (Neighbours, H2O Just Add Water and Home and Away).

Cosplay competitions, parades and fun

Cosplay parades and competitions were held, including several talks and a main event stage.

There were even Let’s Dance dance-offs where you could follow the moves on a dance-kareoke type screen so that anyone could have a try – and it was all free to take part!

OzComicon Exhibits, Artist & Product Stalls

OzComicon is a rare opportunity to pick up specialised fan merchandise – everything you could think of from Evangelion to Minecraft to Disney was available, including fan art, pins, posters, t-shirts, bags, costumes, accessories and so much more.

There were plenty of food choices at the event, including several indoor cafes and outdoor food trucks. From hot chips and roast rolls to pizze and international specialities, you won’t go hungry at Ozcomicon!

Are children welcome at Comicons?

Yes, kids are very welcome at Comicons – after all, most of us developed our love of our favourite characters as children! Little Spiderman and Superman fans were well represented at Ozcomicon on the weekend.

Sure, we travel a lot during the year, but we love to stay close to Sydney around Christmas time whenever we can – because there is just so much fun stuff to do! Family theatre and shows, special events, the latest cinema smash hits…Sydney has it all!

We’ve recently previewed a whole bunch of Sydney family-friendly fun for you, and there’s some absolute rippers this year! So without further ado, and in no particular order – here are our favourite Sydney school holiday fun activities to do and see these 2022 – 2023 summer holidays…

1. Cinderella the Musical

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella the musical is a such a wonderful treat to see, and it’s now playing in Sydney right through the Sydney school holidays until the 29th of January!

We loved our night at this simply stunning musical theatre performance. There’s plenty of pre-show fun to be had at Cinderella too.

3. Come From Away the musical

We were delighted to be invited to the opening night of Come From Away at the Theatre Royal Sydney.
This brilliant musical tells the incredible but true 9/11 story of a very special town in Canada.

There was so much talent and diversity onstage at Come From Away. We just loved this musical theatre show. The standing ovation nearly took the roof off, too – and that’s always a sign that this is a must-see theatre production.

Come From Away is now playing at the Theatre Royal Sydney until 29 January 2023.

4. – Puss In Boots – the movie

We headed along to see the special Australian Premiere of the much-anticipated DreamWorks movie PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH in Sydney at the State Theatre.

The event was so festive. Santa even introduced the movie – along with Puss In Boots himself!

The Puss In Boots – The Last Wish movie is such hilariously good fun. It was exactly what we expected from everyone’s witty, swash-buckling pussy cat in knee-boots – we all loved it!
Go and see PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH for yourself – it’s in cinemas from Boxing Day.

5. Australian Geographic Our Country

We were excited to attend the global premiere of Australian Geographic: Our Country Immersive Experience in Sydney.

It’s hard to describe and do this multi-sensory experience justice here – you really need to be in amongst it in person to see and feel all the incredible beauty and wonder that is – well, our country of Australia!

This is a simply amazing experience that sweeps through the senses with jaw dropping cinematography. It makes you want to tour the entirety of the Australian continent immediately!

The Alice Cocktail Immersive Experience is now in Canberra!

We were invited along recently to the Canberra location of The Alice Cocktail Experience to review it for our Canberra Instagrams, Canberra Locals and Canberra Bucketlist.

Of course we were eager to attend. After all, a themed Alice In Wonderland Cocktail event with theatre and intrigue? Are you MAD?! Who could say no to such a whimsical idea. Off with their heads!

Family Friendly Alice sessions for the kids

The Alice Cocktail Experience would make the perfect girlfriend get together excuse or a (un)birthday celebration or present – but for us it was a Canberra family fun afternoon! On weekends there are family friendly sessions where kids aged under 18 are welcome and you can opt for Mocktails for the children – and yourself as well if you prefer non-alcoholic concoctions of course! Everyone gets to enjoy this experience.

Held at the Zoo Bar in Canberra, The Alice experience happens upstairs in a specially curated space. A transformed Wonderland stuffed to the brim with – well, Alice in Wonderland-themed objects of course!

Alice in Wonderland glorious madness

It’s easy to believe that you’ve tumbled down the rabbit hole! Teapots and roses are strung from the ceiling, old-fashioned dressers groan under the weight of a host of fascinating oddities. A giant apple core here, an ivy-covered tree with Cheshire Eyes peering out there. Fairy lights are simply everywhere, and you find yourself drinking it all in, in delight. Curiouser and curiouser!

Cosplay for the event is optional, but we loved that it was an excuse to dress up in the Alice theme because it’s just so fun and cute. Pink hearts and psychedelia fit right in for once! There’s so many opportunities for awesome photos at the experience thanks to the plethora of Alice paraphernalia.

The grinning Cheshire Cat presides over the activities (and indeed, even becomes a part of them) from one leaf-encrusted wall, whilst a giant suit of Queen of Hearts playing cards dominates another. Seemingly suspended over a brocade sofa just perfect for a Wonderland curated Instagram shot!

Once you are seated (we almost sat on the Dormouse!), the fun begins with fully costumed actors bursting forth to hold you spellbound with their interpretations of the Alice tale.

Sit back and enjoy the show, then join in the fun and immerse yourself in whipping up your own Alice themed Teapot cocktails (or Mocktails in the family-friendly sessions on weekends like we did). Two bespoke cocktails are included.

Solve mysterious riddles and devour an Eat Me cupcake. We’re all Mad here! Don’t worry if you get stuck – The Mad Hatter, The Wonderland Court Judge, Queen Of Hearts, March Hare and White Rabbit are all there to help you along the way.

It’s Alice in Wonderland meets escape room, and it all adds up to a magically good time. But it’s only in Canberra for a limited time! Step through the looking glass to this alternate reality – and book now!

The Australian War Memorial is undergoing major renovations

Canberra is home to several free-admission National Museums and Galleries, and one of the biggest attractions is undoubtedly the Australian War Memorial (AWM).

The AWM is now undergoing major renovation work which directly affects the visitor experience – and this is expected to continue as a rolling renovation project stretching over several years to 2026.

War Memorial entry is still free – but tickets must now be booked

You’ll need a session ticket to access the Australian War Memorial, however this is an easy and quick online procedure you can do with a smart phone.

You can even book tickets when you arrive by scanning the QR code on the wall of the War Memorial car park, and then fill in the form on the two minute walk from the car park to the Museum entrance.

War Memorial visitor tickets cover blocks of two hour sessions, however if you would like to stay longer, you can simply apply for more tickets by returning to the entrance ticket booths.

You’ll also need extra tickets to attend the Last Post Ceremony which takes place each evening at around 4:40pm in the centre courtyard.

What’s changed in the Canberra War Memorial in 2022?

The most noticeable change to the Australian War Memorial is that the front of the building where the main entrance & staircase is normally located is fenced off to the public.

Where do I enter the War Memorial?

This means the iconic Canberra Anzac Parade view (and photo often taken at the front doors of the War Memorial), looking down Anzac Parade and stretching all the way down across Lake Burley Griffin to Old Parliament House/Museum of Democracy and Parliament House up on its hill isn’t currently possible to see other than an obstructed foreground view from the upper level of the outdoor courtyard.

However the War Memorial’s building now has a new, temporary, entrance located to the Eastern side of the building, allowing access to this popular Canberra tourist attraction.

What galleries are still open?

Inside, galleries such as the World War 1 and World War 2 galleries are open as relatively normal.

There are some pandemic adjustments such as previously hands-on installations now being removed or becoming non-contact.

The large aviation hall is now where visitors access the building, and has markedly reduced in size. There is no public access to the upper viewing level, and there are fewer aircraft available for viewing.

The gift shop has also been relocated to the aviation hall.

The internal cafe above the aviation hall is now closed and removed, however the stand-alone Poppy’s cafe located outside of the temporary Museum’s side entrance is open for business as usual and offers hot meals, snacks, cakes and drinks.

Can you still access the inner courtyard, Roll Of Honour & Tomb?

Yes. The grand inner courtyard with its Roll of Honour and Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier are all still open and accessible to the public.

The Roll Of Honour lines the sides of the central courtyard. This is the inscribed names of hundreds of thousands of soldiers’who didn’t return from the wars.

You’ll find each war’s name inscribed along the sides of the courtyard too, above the central pool with the never-ending flame set within it.

At the Mount Ainslie end of the courtyard, a staircase leads up, into the stunning Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier.

The central courtyard is accessible as normal throughout the day, closing with the galleries at around 4:10 in preparation for the Last Post Ceremony.

Can I still watch The Last Post Ceremony?

Yes, but now you’ll need an additional (free) ticket.

The Last Post Ceremony runs for around twenty minutes, and include’s one lost soldier’s story reading, wreath laying, a bagpipe musical piece and the iconic Last Post salute played by a sole military Bugler.

My girls were approached by museum staff to lay a wreath and were honoured to take part.

Where can I park at the Australian War Memorial?

The War Memorial currently offers free parking in the AWB’s own underground car park beneath Poppy’s Cafe on the Eastern side of the main building.

Should I wait until after the renovations to visit?

No! These renovations will stretch over years – that’s a long time to wait to see such an iconic Canberra attraction.

Whilst the Australian War Memorial’s renovations are a major project and do have significant impact upon visiting tourists’ experience of the attraction, this is still a wonderfully meaningful and unique attraction, and a Canberra must-see.

The sheer volume of historic items on displays can easily fill hours of fascinating, sometimes sobering viewing.

With the renovations being long-term, don’t delay a visit as it’s always valuable and worthwhile.

When the renovations are complete, it will be of great benefit to the War Memorial and future visitors.

My girls and I have been lucky enough to attend and review some of the hottest shows and movies in town lately! Each one has been an incredible experience and absolutely Mother’s Day gift-worthy! Presented and introduced by the stunning Dolly Parton (a star of the original 9 to 5 movie), the all-star Australian cast (including non-other than Marina Prior, Casey Donovan, Erin Clare, Eddie Perfect and Caroline O’Connor!) is just amazing – such outstanding singing and dancing! To see so much talent together on one stage is a real treat. It was clear that entire theatre audience was absolutely loving the show – everyone was roaring, laughing and basically riveted- especially us! Family friendly and lots of fun, don’t miss 9 to 5 The Musical – it makes a wonderful night out! But hurry – Sydney closes this weekend on Mother’s Day, so get your tickets now!

Rock concert meets musical theatre, SIX THE MUSICAL is a high energy, often hilarious modern re-telling of the stories of the wives of Henry VIII. With no interval and high energy, super-catchy numbers, this is an incredibly entertaining show that grabs you and doesn’t let you go from start to finish. From the moment the curtain raises the six Queens absolutely own the stage. 4 – An American In Paris – The Musical – in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide

An absolute smorgasbord for the eyes, this old school Broadway musical is a sheer delight to witness. The Australian Ballet meets Musical Theatre to bring technical dancing to this gorgeously romantic musical. The result – incredible dancing AND singing which you simply never want to end. The Gershwin score soars as you follow this comedy of romantic errors between a young American soldier and a beautiful French girl (Robbie Fairchild & Leanne Cope) – with the audience alternately squealing, laughing and clapping spontaneously along – it’s just-that-good! This is the perfect mother-daughter evening out – what a wonderful Mother’s Day gift this would make!

The latest travelling family show to come to Canberra

We were so excited to be invited to visit Canberra’s fun new attraction Jurassic Creatures – but then the Pandemic hit and Canberra went into Lockdown, cancelling opening night. Several months later as Canberra emerged from Lockdown we heard that Jurassic Creatures was moving on without even opening due to government number limitations, but happily all that changed and Jurassic Creatures is back on and playing now!

Jurassic Creatures is officially known as an animatronics exhibition – and it’s a fantastic spectacle to see. This great interactive walk-through display will have kids of all ages enchanted by its massive dinosaur models, and the adults staring in wonder!

The exhibit is made up of two large pavilions connected via an outdoor corridor, all filled with over thirty high-tech animated dinosaur models.

The prehistoric scene is a chaotic and delightful noisy one. You walk through and past lots of roaring and chittering dinosaurs “contained” within metal yards – it’s like you’re visiting a scaled down version of Jurassic Park – or a dinosaur zoo! Jurassic Park movie-style music plays through the speakers in the background.

All kinds of kid-friendly dinosaurs!

The T-Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Velociraptor and many other dinosaurs roar convincingly, waving their tails, lowering and raising their necks and opening their mouths as mysterious mists swirl around them. You can even “pet” some of them! The Ice Age is well represented with “Snow” falling down upon a massive Mammoth and even a Sabre Tooth Tiger!

From the smallest to the absolutely huge, every little dinosaur fan’s favourite is represented in this round up of epic prehistoric proportions! It’s learning by fun as each exhibit is labelled with it’s name, interesting facts and history – for example, did you know there was a Qantasaurus dinosaur, named after the airline who funded its excavation?!.

Much more than dinosaur animatronics

A “real” dinosaur character roams about to pose for photos, and there’s also some official photo set ups too – have your photo taken in a dinosaur egg or Jurassic Park style Jeep!

Scattered arts and craft stations can be found along the walk, and there’s a fun excavation area especially for kids to become a Paleontologist and dig out their own fossil dinosaur model from a powder egg using a mini hammer and chisel.

There are several Jurassic World and dinosaur themed jumping castles of different sizes to suit kids of all ages, including toddlers – and there are some fun game stalls to try your luck on, including a dinosaur dig and fair ground clowns.

Food and drinks stalls

A hot food caravan sells kid-friendly nuggets, hot dogs and chips, and next door to that is a snack bar offering popcorn, fairy floss and slushy bottles – even a dinosaur themed one!

Dinosaur themed showbags and souvenirs

At the entrance gates a show bag stand sells fun dinosaur themed souvenirs and a dinosaur show bag amongst others.

The fun Canberra families needed after Lockdown!

Jurrasic Creatures is a complete Canberra family outing that offers a lot of fun for everyone – it’s a very welcome attraction after a long and challenging lockdown for Canberra parents, carers and kids. Go have some fun, Canberra!
