There are several main transport methods to get from Haneda Airport to Tokyo Disney…

Taxis, Ubers and Private Transfers

Taxis and Ubers are readily available at Haneda Airport, however Pre-booked Private Transfers can be the easiest option and often preferable to using the more complicated train system from Haneda to Tokyo Disney when first arriving in Tokyo.

How can I book a private transfer from Haneda Airport to a Tokyo Disney hotel?

Klook private transfers usually work out to be cheaper than a taxi to the Tokyo Disney area and are very reliable too. You’ll have someone waiting to meet you at the airport, help managing your bags and will be driven direct to your hotel in around 30 minutes travel time. It’s much easier than trying to buy tickets, navigate public transport and juggle bags, prams and children along the way. Private Transfers are the fastest and easiest option to get you to your hotel and out sight-seeing or to the Disney parks.

Can I send my bags from the airport to my Tokyo hotel?

Trains from Haneda Airport to Tokyo Disney

Haneda Airport’s Keikyu Tokyo Train Line and Tokyo Monorail Line both link into the main Yamanote JR loop line which encircles Tokyo. From there you can change at Tokyo Station for the Keiyo Line to Disneyland at Maihama Station. The whole train trip takes about 50 minutes.

Can I buy a Suica IC Card at Haneda Airport?

Yes, you can buy a Suica IC train card at Haneda Airport at the JR Rail office at the Airport train station. You can also pre-order a Suica Card from Klook to pick up at Haneda Airport. It’s a good idea to buy a train travel card like a Welcome Suica Card and put credit on it if you will be catching trains in Tokyo during your visit. Otherwise you can buy single trip tickets from the machines which have English options. The Suica Card will also work with the Tokyo Disney Monorail.

What if my flight arrives late at Haneda Airport?

If your flight arrives at Haneda Airport late transport options become less frequent. You are probably best to pre-book a Private car to your Tokyo Hotel.

What time is the last monorail from Haneda Airport?

The last Bus to Tokyo Station is around 23:30pm.

What time is the last Limo Bus from Haneda Airport?

The last Limo bus to Tokyo Disney is 20:25hrs.

What time is the last train from Haneda Airport?

The last Keikyu Line train leaves Haneda Airport at 00:20pm.

How do I get from Tokyo Station to Tokyo Disney?

The walk from Tokyo Airport trains to the Keiyo Line (Tokyo Disney Platform) can take 10-15 minutes and includes travelators and escalators or elevators. You can watch the whole walk at the start of my video here. The train journey from the Keiyo Line platform at Tokyo Station to Maihama Station (Disneyland) will take around twenty minutes.

What if I am arriving in Tokyo by Shinkansen from Osaka?

If you arrive by Shinkansen (bullet train, usually from Osaka) you’ll arrive at Tokyo Station, in Tokyo. Your ongoing travel to Tokyo Disney will be from Tokyo Station. You can walk to the Keiyo Train Line platform to Maihama Station at Tokyo Disney Resort, or catch a Taxi, Uber or Private Transfer car to Tokyo Disney Resort.

How do I get from Maihama Station to my hotel?

You can catch the Tokyo Disney Resort Line Monorail at the Resort Gateway Station located right next to Maihama Station. Or they may offer free shuttle buses out the front of the station. You’ll need to check, depending upon your hotel.

How do I get to the Tokyo Disney Parks from Maihama Station?

You can either turn right outside of Maihama Station and walk down to Disneyland (10 minutes) or turn left to walk next door to the Resort Gateway Station and catch the Disney Resort Line Monorail one stop for Disneyland, three stops for DisneySea.

Is the Tokyo Disney Monorail free?

No, the Tokyo Disney Resort Line Monorail isn’t free. You will need to buy tickets or use a Japan IC Suica card to ride it. Tokyo Disney Resort Line staff can help you to buy tickets or put credit on your Suica card if you don’t know how. Ticket machines have English options are easy to use. Picture-card multi day tickets can save you money and make a nice souvenir too!

When is the earliest Tokyo Disney Monorail?

The earliest Tokyo Disney Resort Line Monorail leaves from the Resort Gateway Station at 6:03am.

When is the latest Tokyo Disney Monorail?

The latest Tokyo Disney Resort Line Monorail leaves from the Resort Gateway Station at 23:30pm.

The Tokyo Disney Monorail operating hours are from 6:03am to 23:30pm.

Can I leave my bags at Maihama Station?

Yes. If you want to head straight to the Disney parks, the Welcome Center is located next to the Maihama Station. If you are staying at a Disney Hotel or certain Disney partner hotels you can drop your luggage in at the Welcome Center and head to the parks and they will transfer your luggage to your hotel for free. (The hotels can also do the reverse and transfer your bags from the hotel to the Welcome Centre for a charge). Otherwise there are plenty of large-size lockers at Maihama Station available for a fee. You can also book a luggage transfer direct from the Airport.

The Limo Bus takes approximately 40 minutes from Haneda to Tokyo Bay, at Tokyo Disney.

What are the Limo Bus operating hours?

The Limo Bus operates from 7:35am-8:25pm from Haneda.

How much luggage is allowed on the Limo Bus?

Passengers are allowed 2 pieces of stowed luggage up to 30kgs each.

Can I buy tickets for the Limo Bus at Haneda airport?

Yes you can book the Limo bus at Haneda airport, however it is better to book the Limo Bus online in advance. The bus counters at the airport are located in the arrival areas (after customs) for ticket purchases.

Airport Arrival in Japan

Here’s a simple guide to explain what happens when you arrive at the Tokyo Airports. This article will help you be prepared and perhaps lessen any nervousness you might be feeling about arriving in Japan. You’ve absolutely nothing to be worried about! Japan is a beautiful country full amazing things to see and do, and of course wonderfully polite and friendly people.

What happens when you arrive in Japan?

When you first arrive at your Tokyo airport – usually Haneda or Narita International Airports, Japan – you’ll be carefully directed to the Japan Customs and Immigration areas. It’s here you will be first asked if you have a Japan Arrival QR Code.

How do I use my Japan arrival QR code at the airport?

At Japan customs, have your QR code ready to be scanned on your phone. You may find screenshots to be the handiest way to present your QR codes to the customs officer. A screenshot may be especially helpful if you don’t yet have data on your phone when you land in Japan and so may not be able to retrieve them.

How long does Customs clearance take in Japan?

If you have your Arrival QR Code ready to go you can move straight into the customs queue. It can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour queuing time. The length of time waiting in the customs queue can depend on several factors including time of arrival, number of flights, and even the occasional system breakdown.

On average, the system works efficiently, and you should be through Customs processing in around twenty minutes. Once you arrive at the head of the queue the Customs Officer will process your arrival by scanning your QR Code and taking your photo and your electronic fingerprint impression.

It takes approximately 40-60 minutes to get from airplane door to the arrival hall Terminals, providing there are no major delays. Rest-assured that Japanese airport processing is usually highly efficient and passenger friendly.

There is a family & disability fast lane at customs

You may not realise that there is a shorter queue at customs especially for families with young children, the elderly and also for those families with a disabled member. If this is the case in your travel party, don’t hesitate to approach a customs queue attendant to make yourself known before joining the main queue. Customs Staff will be able to direct you to the correct area to save you time and stress.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard Scheme

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower scheme is a visibly worn lanyard or bracelet that helps you to voluntarily share that you have a disability which may not be visibly obvious. It also indicates that you may need assistance, patience or more time in places such as airport security and customs.

The Sunflower Lanyard is recognised at several international Japan airports including Narita and Haneda Airports in Tokyo. Free lanyards are also available from the dedicated Hidden Disabilities Sunflower scheme information desk at Haneda.

What else should I pick up at the Airport before I leave?

There are usually large food halls accessible from the arrival area of each international airport Terminal. It can be difficult to find food after around 9pm in Japan other than convenience stores, so if you’re flight arrives in Japan in the evening it may be wise to have your dinner at the airport first.

Other useful items you can get from Japan Airports which might be useful for your visit include tourist train cards like the Suica IC Card, a small amount of Cash from an ATM (although the best cash withdrawal rates are usually at 7/11 Convenience Stores found all over Japan) and a Japanese SIM card for phone data if you haven’t already pre-arranged one.

There are always hotels located around the Japan airports, in particular Narita which an hour from Tokyo. Considering the longer shuttle times to some of the cheaper outlying airport hotels, it may be more economical and less extra work to travel to where you want to be immediately upon arrival or invest in a closer and more expensive airport hotel. Only you know what will suit you best.

Cover yourself – medical considerations

• Arrange travel insurance – focus on medical – don’t forget to make sure it covers pre-existing conditions such as Epilepsy and check for extra activities such as skiing, cruising and hire cars. (Check if your current credit card offers travel insurance for free as long as you’ve purchased your trip on it!)
• Research if any medication needs special arrangements or is a prohibited or controlled drug in Japan. Always take original medicine packaging and any prescriptions. Get your doctor to prepare a document listing your medications.
• Also arrange a doctor’s letter if you intend on accessing Universal Studios Japan DAS, Tokyo Disney Resort DAS and other theme park disability accessibility tickets and passes. Ensure you bring only original documents and proof of disability.

Finances – arrange back up money sources

• Let your bank know the dates that you will be in Japan so that they don’t block purchases you make on your card in Japan as a security precaution.
• Consider if you should pay for at least a small amount of overseas service access on your home phone number to retrieve notifications like credit card purchase confirmation number SMS text messages – or consider changing your method of receiving credit card confirmation numbers to the bank’s mobile phone app or an email address you can access overseas.
• Have more than one form of accessible money with you in case one fails. Buy a small amount of Japanese Yen cash. In addition to Apple Pay and a physical credit card, consider ordering a travel money card like a Wise Card or other overseas money card with good currency exchange rates and low or no fees. Communication – you need your phone overseas!

• Arrange a mobile phone service provider – buy and set up an Airalo eSIM or other eSIM which is proven to work well in Japan to make calls and access the internet – particularly for when you are on the move.
• Download any extra apps onto your mobile phone that you think you might need in Japan before you go. This will save data and time while you are away. Themepark applications, Google translate is a good app to translate Japanese conversations on the spot. NHK WORLD-JAPAN is a useful Japan app which sends emergency alerts to your phone such as earthquakes. Before you leave for Japan, turn off background-draining mobile phone apps which might use up your overseas data too quickly.
• Photograph everything of importance in case of loss before you leave – Passport pages, credit cards, any important documentation, etc. – it will make your life easier when arranging replacements.

• Tourists must arrange for an International Driving Permit (IDP) obtained in your home country before traveling to Japan to drive a tourist go kart in Tokyo & you will need an IDP plus a valid driver’s license from your country of residence if you wish to hire a car in Japan.
• Many Japan activities such as theme parks and other tourist attractions book out weeks and sometimes months in advance. Consider booking the top attractions you would like to do in advance, as soon as you have your trip and accommodation dates confirmed.
