Visit Japan Web QR Code FAQs

Where do I apply for the Japan QR code?
You apply for the Japan QR Code at the official website Visit Japan Web. This is the only website where you can get your QR Code.
When should I apply for my Japan arrival QR code?
As you can get your QR Code instantly online, I recommend leaving your Visit Japan Web QR code process until the week before you leave, just in case they change any procedural requirements which might cause you to have to re-do it.
What do I need to fill in my QR Code application?
It will take you around fifteen minutes to complete your QR Code application. You’ll need your passport, flight details and first Japan hotel information to complete it.
Is there a Japan QR code payment?
No, the Japan QR code process is free of any charges. Don’t trust fake websites advertising to do it for you for a fee. No agent is needed – you can easily do this yourself.
What happens if I don’t have my Japan arrival code when I arrive?
Don’t stress if you forget to do your QR Code application before you go. You can still do it upon arrival and someone will assist you if you’re having problems.
Does every member of my family need their own QR code?
Yes, every single member of your family needs their own individual QR code. Numerous applicants forget the last step of getting each separate family member QR code which then delays you at Japan customs. Watch my YouTube Japan QR Code tutorial here.
How do I use the QR Code at the airport?
When you arrive in Japan you’ll be directed to Customs and Immigration. It’s here you will be asked if you have a QR Code.

How do I use my Japan arrival QR code?
At Japan customs, have the QR codes ready to be scanned on your phone. You may find screenshots to be the handiest way to present your QR codes to the customs officer. This may be especially helpful if you don’t yet have data on your phone when you land in Japan and so may not be able to retrieve them.
If you have your Arrival QR Code ready to go you can move straight into the customs queue and you’ll be out and on your way before you know it – well done and enjoy your visit!
How long does Japan Airport Customs take?
It doesn’t normally take too long – perhaps 20 minutes – to get through the queue to the customs officer who will scan your QR Code, take your photo and your fingerprint.
What if I’m arriving by cruise ship or ferry?
You will be provided with traditional paper forms to fill out before or when you arrive.
