The Let’s go Mum family were interviewed by ABC Canberra’s Mikel Simic about where to go inland and why when on an Australian family holiday!

Barbara’s family holiday recommendations include:

• Inland road trips are often the most adventurous
• Don’t travel with a deadline – stop where you like
• Escape the summer exodus to the coast
• Less crowds and often cheaper
• It’s not just about the destination, but the journey to get there
• Discover and learn together

The Let’s go Mum kids Brooke and Samantha loved chatting to Mikel about a kid’s holiday and travel perspective, how they do their home schooling on the road, and what they learn along the way.

The kids’ road-trip fun recommendations include:

• Making new friends along the way at playground stops
• Do homeschool work in between epic fun activities
• Integrate school learning with real-life learning, such as the Ned Kelly trail

The Let’s go Mum family appeared on WIN News today – of course we’re always up for a chat about our family travel blog and what we’ve been up to.

We were delighted to chat with Emma Groves from WIN TV Canberra all about different summer school holiday boredom busters for the family – many of which are low-cost, or free!

Barbara’s recommendations include:

• Local councils often host free school holiday events
• Camping for adventure
• Family resorts can offer a beach holiday alternative
• Check out your local museums

The Let’s go Mum kids Brooke and Samantha have quite a few interviews under their belts by now, and on this occasion Brooke (13) was also given the opportunity for her very own spot to recommend her summer holiday tips to the watching kids. Needless to say, Brooke leapt at the chance!

Brooke’s recommendations include turning off the TV and:

• Going for a walk
• Visiting a Nature Park
• Visiting a local park/playground

Our young adventurers 12 year old Brooke and 10 year old Samantha were lucky enough to get first try today at all of the fun at the exciting new Play Space at the Canberra Centre.

Both girls were later interviewed by WIN news Canberra, and were very excited to give their enthusiastic kid’s perspective of  this new family hot spot.

“We’ve got books, we’ve got colouring, we’ve got amazing places to climb,” Brooke told the WIN News interviewer Alison Hattley. “There are balls everywhere – it’s really, really fun!”

Now open and a permanent feature of the Canberra Centre, the Play Space offers mums, dads, bubs, toddlers and kids up to the age of 12 with some fun respite from Christmas shopping – and of course the up-coming January sales!

With a reading corner, a craft and colouring station, and plenty of safe, soft play areas, the Canberra Centre Playspace is sure to be a hit with Canberra parents and children alike.

Enclosed with a child-safe gate, the new Play Space is within clear view of the food court tables. This means that mums and dads can relax with some well-earned refreshment whilst the kids can have fun burning off some energy, or just quietly reading, colouring and learning at the same time!

A welcome break for Canberra parents

The Play Space’s colourful, stylish design was inspired by the natural Canberra environment. The end result is a fun and playful design that the kids obviously love. Today the centre was a welcome break for busy mums in the middle of Christmas shopping. The really great news for parents is that the Play Centre is absolutely free!

As for our Brooke and Samantha’s verdict on the new Playspace? It’s a big thumbs-up!

Our young adventurers 12 year old Brooke was very excited to be invited to participate in a Marie Claire feature for the New Year’s edition of the elegant Marie Claire women’s magazine.

The Best Things Marie Claire shoot

The “Best Things” shoot was a collection of Australian women who had all done something remarkable in their lives this year. Brooke’s celebrity interviewer role for Nestle had earned her a spot in one of Australia’s premiere publications!

In the article, Brooke spoke of the thrill of meeting Packed to the Rafters star Hugh Sheridan, and how he had given her tips on her acting career.

Brooke said afterwards that featuring in Marie Claire was “a dream come true”!

The Let’s go Mum family appeared on TV on the weekend. This was our third TV appearance so far this year, and we are always so grateful to have such amazing opportunities to share our adventures – and of course chat about our family travel blog!

We were delighted to chat with the team on the Seven Network Weekend Sunrise show on Saturday morning, all about the Let’s go Mum travel blog, holidays – and of course our favourite destinations!

The Let’s go Mum kids Brooke and Samantha have done quite a few radio and phone interviews by now, however this was their very-first TV interview!

The kids absolutely loved being on TV – probably helped along by the fact that they were so well looked after by everyone at Weekend Sunrise.

What a great first TV experience this was for the girls!
