If you’ve always wanted to take the kids to Disneyland but it’s perhaps been a little out of your reach – either time or money-wise – Hong Kong Disneyland can be a great alternative choice over America – and here’s why….

The Chinese characters are a dead-giveaway - we're about to hit Hong Kong Disneyland!

1. It’s still Disneyland, just with an Asian twist – and that’s makes for a fascinating cultural blend! You even get to see Asian-dressed Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse! Hong Kong Disneyland definitely has it’s own unique Asian atmosphere, style and feel to it – after all, you’re in one of the most exciting Asian cities of them all – Hong Kong!

2. Hong Kong Disneyland takes less time and money to get there – Hong Kong Disneyland is easier to get to than the California Disneyland, as it only takes around 9 hours to fly from Sydney to Hong Kong versus the 15 hour trip from Sydney to America- and that means it’s cheaper too – double-bonus!

3. Hong Kong Disneyland is state-of-the-art – although Hong Kong Disneyland has the all the USA Disneyland themed “worlds” such as Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, and the classic Disneyland rides such as “It’s a Small World” and the Teacup ride, it also hosts state-of-the-art rides, such as the famous Space Mountain, and the world-first “Mystic Manor” (don’t miss this!) – just with less crowds and shorter queues!

4. Hong Kong Disneyland is set in an exciting location – you’re in Hong Kong, which is a great tourist destination! Nice hotels, a beautiful, historic city and harbour, amazing shopping, and many other attractions and theme parks to visit while you are there. Give yourself at least a week, better-still, two weeks to explore this fabulous city and surrounding islands and territories.

5. Hong Kong Disneyland is a manageable size – you can do Hong Kong Disneyland basically in one day (however I’d recommend two full days to do it justice). But don’t worry about the park being too small – there’s plenty to see and do there. In addition to the multitude of rides, there’s the must-see Disneyland parade, stacks of Disney Characters wandering the park for the kids to meet, numerous specialist Disney souvenir shops and eateries and of course the Disneyland castle fireworks at the end of the day!

Hong Kong Disneyland is well-located for Australian family holiday-makers – closer and more affordable than Disneyland in Anaheim, California, Hong Kong Disneyland still holds all the Disneyland excitement, fun and charm – plus it’s set in the fabulous city of Hong Kong.

Hong Kong offers amazing sites to be seen and day-trips to be had. Shop-til-you-drop at the Stanley Markets. Stare in awe at the huge Tian Tan Budda, or perhaps take a ferry over to nearby Macau. You may even consider extending your holiday to visit the China mainland to take in some of the worlds most amazing wonders, such as the Great Wall of China – and surely that alone is enough excuse to choose Hong Kong Disneyland!
