 How do I buy a Tokyo Disney Disability pass?

You can only buy a Tokyo Disneyland disability entrance ticket at the official Tokyo Disney Resort website or at an official Tokyo Disney Hotel ticket counter.

Where should I buy our other Tokyo Disney Tickets?

You can buy non-disability standard entrance tickets for the rest of your family or friends online also on the official website, or at the official third party discount seller Klook.

How do I enter Disneyland or DisneySea with my Disability ticket?

After buying your Disney entrance tickets, upon arrival at the Tokyo Disney park  produce your ticket barcode on your mobile phone or paper ticket.
You will need to produce proof of your disability to enter.

You will still need to Register inside the park at your first ride.

(Make sure all members of your party who may wish to ride with you – up to five people – are also present so they can also be noted as your ride group)

Are Tokyo Disney Resort disability tickets cheaper?

Yes, Tokyo Disney Resort Disability one day passes are cheaper than standard one day passes. They are around AUD$25 and USD$11 cheaper than standard Tokyo Disneyland day passes, or roughly 20% cheaper.

Your accompanying Carer can also buy a disability one day pass. Only one accompanying person may buy a disabled pass per disabled pass visitor.

Here are the current (August 2023) ticket prices for comparison:

What certificate or paperwork do I need to prove I am disabled?

There isn’t a great deal of information, other than eligible certificates should be a “certificate for” their disability, including physical, developmental (neurodiverse such as Autism / ASD and ADHD), neurological, cognitive and intellectual / mental disabilities.
This implies official-issued documents such as government documents.

That said, there are numerous incidences of NDIS or Doctors letters that are accepted as proof for DAS at Tokyo Disneyland.

Australian Compaion & Carers Cards

Australian NSW Companion Cards and even Carers pension cards would have a strong case, particularly if they include a photograph. This is because they are issued by the state or federal governments.

What disability proof worked for us:

NDIS original paperwork for Australians carries weight – state that it is a government document.

Bring an accompanying doctor’s letter on their letterhead stating queuing may be difficult/not possible. MOST LIKELY this alone will work.

I asked a Cast Member if you can try to register with just a doctors letter and was met with some doubt. It can depend on who you register with!

Any kind of carers card, Australian Companion Card or pass with a photo would also be helpful.

UK Blue Cards

UK Blue Cards have been used with success due to them being a government issued identification card with photograph.

Japan has a photo pass system and may assume other countries do also. Explain that your government doesn’t issue the same.

Personally, if I only had a doctor’s letter as proof I would buy a regular Park entrance ticket and not a Disability entrance ticket – just in case the doctor’s letter is rejected as not enough proof (so that you don’t risk losing your entry ticket).

Do I need to take original certificates or can I take photocopies or digital scans?

Only take originals, as copies probably won’t be accepted. Officially they must be originals.

You should always carry your passport in Japan – it’s the law for tourists.

For Disney Disability Registration, you should bring photo id (so, your passport for example) if there is no photo id on your disability certificate or other proof – they probably won’t check it, but just in case.

Do I need to supply a Japanese translation of my disability certificate or medical letter?

No. Most don’t. There doesn’t seem to be a requirement for Japanese translations as then this would be a copy, so not admissable as proof.

That said, if my only documentation was a doctor’s letter, a translation may help strengthen your claim.

Can I buy Tokyo Disney multi-day disability tickets?

No. Disability tickets are one day passes only.

Is there Tokyo Disney Resort disabled ride access if I have already bought a standard ticket?

Yes. This is called the Disability Access Service pass. You can add this to your standard park access ticket by registering for the Disability Access Service add-on after you enter the park.

This is obtained by presenting a disability certificate or other acceptable documentation (see above) to one of several park locations, including any ride operator for your first ride. They will register you, your carer and your other group (family) members in the system width you so you can all ride together.

After you have registered for the first time you don’t need to do this process again that day. You can just request your DAS ride return time from ride operators at each ride.

Here are the Tokyo Disney Resort Disability Access Service registration locations:

At Tokyo Disneyland:

• All rides and attractions
• Woodchuck Greeting Trail
• Mickey’s House and Meet Mickey
• Minnie’s Style Studio

At Tokyo DisneySea:

• All rides and attractions
• Village Greeting Place
• Saludos Amigos! Greeting Dock
• Mickey & Friends’ Greeting Trails

Can I register for Disability Access Services for more than one day at a time?

The official website says you need to register each day at each park separately, on the day you attend. It is each day, each park.

Do I need a Carer with me to be registered for a Tokyo Disneyland disability pass?

Yes. If you have visual, mental, or developmental disabilities you must have an able-bodied person accompanying you in order to get a registered disabled pass.

You need one carer per disabled person for some rides like Space Mountain. So if you are a single parent and have two disabled children for example, or are two parents but are outnumbered with disabled children , consider registering only ONE disabled child if you can safely manage more than two on your own. The family group of up to five more people join you anyway.

Can my family or group board with me when I’m using my Disability Access Service (DAS)?

Yes. Up to five other people can board the ride with you when using your DAS. Up to nine people can go with you at a Character Greeting. You’ll need to have all their passes scanned with yours when entering the park with a disability ticket / registering for DAS.

From the Tokyo Disney website:

”At an attraction, this service is valid for up to six persons (yourself and five members of your party).”

How do I use a disability pass to skip the ride queue?

If you have bought a Tokyo Disney Resort Disability entrance ticket then once it is verified at the entrance gates then you will need to register again. After your initial registration at the first ride, reserve each ride by attending the ride and make yourself known to the ride queue attendants. You will receive a return time that equals the current queue wait time.

If you have a standard Park entry ticket, then you will need to Register for a Disability Access Pass at your first ride, once for that day.
After you are Registered, then you only need to make what is called a Disability Reservation or Return Time at each ride you want to go on.

Speak to the ride attendants first to Register and once your ticket is digitally linked as a disability pass (as will be your Carer’s and you’ll also need to present all the passes of the family or group members you’re visiting with) then – then after registration you only need to make a ride reservation by attending that ride and receiving a return time.

Do Tokyo Disney Cast Members speak English?

Not all cast members speak English, however cast members do have translation devices or access to them.

When requesting Disability Access to a ride it may be wise to use Google translate or translate a note into Japanese prior, to give or show attendants in case of language barriers.

What happens during the Tokyo Disney Disability Registration Process?

The process takes around ten-fifteen minutes and is a one-off procedure for that day in that park.

If you have a Tokyo Disney Resort Disability entrance ticket your papers will be checked at the front gates. You will still need to do your official DAS Registration at your first ride.

If you have a standard park entrance ticket then you enter the park as normal and register at your first ride.

You may need to queue to register, particularly if you are registering at a popular ride first-thing in the morning such as Beauty and the Beast. I would advise registering at a less popular ride with a shorter queue first.

Cast members will ask to see documentary proof of the disabled person’s disability (see above).

They will photograph the disabled person and register their pass. They will also register/scan the passes of all the accompanying family/friends, so make sure everyone is there for registration.

After registration you will make your first ride Disability Reservation.

How do you make a Disability ride reservation at each ride?

Seek out any ride queue Cast Member who will direct you to the appropriate Cast Member. They usually hold a light stick.

The Cast Member will check the disabled person’s photograph on their system and ask the Carer of the disabled person questions to make sure the disabled person will be able to physically ride the ride and also be able to safely exit the ride in an emergency.

Appropriate questions will also be written in English etc. on cards, and will be about sitting, walking and navigating stairs capabilities.

They may ask if the disabled person is capable of being able to walk or be supported by your Carer out of a ride for safely.

You will be given a return time to come back to the ride so that you don’t have to wait in the queue. The return time will exactly equal the current ride queue time as signposted – a wait time identical to the current wait time for that ride queue.

You will then be free to leave to spend that time elsewhere instead of standing in a queue.

This process is not regarded as a fast pass like a Tokyo Disney paid Premier Pass or the USA Genie+ pass, but a queue place holder.

Can we do other rides whilst waiting for our disability ride return time?

Yes you can provided you can make it back in time (strictly within 15 minutes of your return time).

You should be able to book other ride passes such as a Premier or Priority Pass – you can certainly try. We had some success but also some system blocks.

You can do other rides queuing as a normal park pass guest, however you can only use your Disability Pass one ride at a time, and only once per ride.

Where do I go at my ride queue return time?

You go to the ride Priority Lane – the same place you go to if you have a paid Premier Pass or a 40th Anniversary Priority Pass.

Same as the other Tokyo Disney passes, you will have a pass with barcode listed on you official Tokyo Disney Resort App.

When you return, scan the barcode of your disabled ticket holder’s pass FIRST at the Premier Access/Priority Pass lane. Cast members will need to be notified that you are disabled entries and verify your disabled persons first scan pass with their own device. Then all other members of your party/family group scan as normal.

What happens if I miss my return time or are running late?

You have up to 15 minutes ONLY after your return time passes to turn up to the ride. So you can arrive back up to fifteen minutes late after your stated DAS pass return time. Cast Members expect you to be on time. You cannot enter any earlier.

Will my Tokyo Disney Disabled Pass get me into Fantasy Springs?

Yes, Fantasy Springs is open to all and you can use your DAS pass on the rides there.

Can I use my DAS Pass to skip the queue for Fantasy Springs rides?

Yes, you can use your DAS pass for a return-time to use the Priority lanes.

What  Tokyo Disneyland Holiday Planning Facebook Group members say…

Okay I just did this last week.

You have to set it up each day at the park, at your first ride you need to use it.

At that time you will show your proof – being in US we showed a doctors letter.

They will scan tickets and get things set up for you. This will take at least five to ten minutes to do. And that’s if they don’t need to find someone else to do it.

After that it should be linked in the app and you’ll basically use it as a premier pass.

You will only have 30 minutes to use it after it is time.

At each ride they will have you confirm a series of saftey basically saying pass holder can evacuate in case of an emergency – they can walk down 200 stairs, climb a ladder, etc. Also that they can hold themselves up right m, things like that.

Next ride will be a little quicker but it still usually took 5 mins to get the return time, sometimes they had to find the right person, grab the book with instructions, etc.

I started keeping Google translate open and using the message “I need to get a disability access return time for my daughter.” Because asking verbally in English was not always immediately understood.

If you need a wheelchair it can get more complicated. We used a stroller as a wheelchair which was not always easy. – Cassie.

Our family is from the U.S. and just returned from Japan spending 4 days at Disneyland and DisneySea. We bought our tickets at full price and did not do a DAS discounted ticket. We used the DAS pass which allowed us to skip waiting in the queue line with everyone else but we still had to wait for the same amount of time outside the queue. To get the DAS pass we needed to show proof of my son’s ASD. To do this I had his primary care physician write a letter on her letterhead stating that my son has ASD and has a difficult time staying with the group and standing in line. Once inside the park, we went to the first attraction we wanted to ride and let them know we wanted to register for a DAS pass. They then asked to see the letter from his doctor and they scanned all of our tickets into a digital DAS pass that was now linked with our park tickets. We were then issued a return time. When that time came we would return to the Priority queue where our park tickets were scanned and we were admitted onto the attraction. To ride other attractions you then go to a cast member at each attraction you want to ride and ask for a DAS pass return time. The cast members have a transtator device which makes communicating with them really easy. They are all really helpful and once you do a few rides it becomes really easy. – Ann.

…we call it DAS disabilty access service. they will ask you to show proof (disability card, doctor’s note etc) that someone in your group has a disability.

after you enter the park, you go to any ride cast member and tell them that you will register for DAS. you show your proof and they take the picture of the person who has the disability. you do the registration once.

you have to tell the attraction cast member that you will use DAS, they will explain safety procedures and you get a return time.

you can do whatever you want while waiting for a return time. you can queue in line for a different ride. you can only use das for one ride at a time. – Group member.

Can I wait somewhere else instead of standing in line or queuing until boarding a ride?

Yes, if you are unable to stand or wait in a ride queue, there are separate ride waiting areas for conditions such as if you have a temporary disability (like a broken leg), are disabled, pregnant, wheelchair bound or elderly.

If you don’t have a DAS pass you will be separated from your group to wait in a special separate area and your group will wait in line as normal and then you can rejoin your party at their ride boarding time.

Can I bring food into Disneyland and DisneySea if we have strict dietary requirements?

Yes you can, and several park restaurants have microwaves available to you.

Are vegetarian meals available at Disney in Tokyo?

Yes, you can get vegetarian meals and a “Special Dietary Menu” at many park restaurants which avoid allergens.

Using a pram or stroller as a wheelchair

If you obtain a special sticker you can have your pram treated as a wheelchair which give you much closer access to rides. Like a wheelchair, staff will transport it to the end of rides for you to. You can also get access to special wheelchair viewing areas in theatres and at shows and parades.

Is there a special place for those in wheelchairs to view shows and parades?

Yes, and also for prams being used as wheelchairs. One group member has mentioned this area is open to all DAS pass holders. Contact nearby Cast Members to show you how and where to go to access it.

Can I use the Tokyo Disney Resort monorail or buses with a wheelchair?

Yes. There are elevators at each station, and carriage numbers 3 and 4 have spaces for wheelchairs. Staff can help with a ramp if necessary. Ramps are also available to board the free Disney Resort Cruiser bus service.

Tokyo Disney Resort has early entry to their Disney parks just like the USA does, but it’s a very different experience. Here’s all about Tokyo Disney’s Happy Entry 15 minutes early entry – what happens, how you get it and if it’s worth using.

What is Tokyo Disney Happy Entry 15 minutes early entry?

Tokyo Disney early entry (officially named “Happy Entry”) is a Special Entrance Pass given to all Tokyo Disney hotel guests for the morning of their stay/s and or check out. (not check in day). This allows them to bypass the main and much longer Tokyo Disney entrance queue and enter 15 minutes earlier.

The Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo Disney Sea early entry pass must accompany a valid park entrance ticket. The Fantasy Springs Happy Entry area requires a second slip of paper – a Proof Of Stay, as only Fantasy Springs guests may use the Fantasy Springs Happy Entry.

Guests line up at a special area to enter the Tokyo Disney park you have been given the 15 minutes early entry pass for (not all hotels give you both passes – more about that in a minute) 15 minutes before the general entry gates open.

Guests with an early entry pass and valid park ticket are scanned into the park in a group 15 minutes early, which allows you to book passes, get photos, hire prams, buy food and line up for your desired first ride earlier than the general entry guests who enter at Tokyo Disney parks official opening time. Some rides may even start unofficially operating earlier. Open services during the fifteen minutes are limited. For example, DisneySea’s Tower of Terror queue does not open until 9am.

All guests of Tokyo Disney Resort Hotels are given Happy Entry 15 mins early entry to either Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea.

Only the Tokyo Disney Resort luxury hotels also give Happy Entry to Tokyo Resort DisneySea, in addition to Tokyo Resort Disneyland. These hotels currently are:

Can I get early entry into Tokyo DisneySea direct from Miracosta Hotel?

No, you need to use the official park early entry for Happy Entry or General Entry until after 10am.

Can I get early entry into Tokyo DisneySea staying at Tokyo Disney Toy Story Hotel?

No, you may only use the direct entry through Fantasy Springs Hotel after 10am and before 9pm.

Where is Tokyo Disneyland Happy Entry early entry located?

Tokyo Disney Resort Happy Entries have special entrance areas which are separate to the general entry queues.

Where is the Fantasy Springs Hotel Happy Entry?

Fantasy Springs Hotel has two separate, special Happy Entrances.

The Fantasy Springs Hotel Grand Chateau Happy Entry (30mins early entry) entrance is located on the first floor, whilst the Fantasy Springs Hotel Happy Entry (15mins early entry) is the main Fantasy Springs Entrance for guests only, which passes underneath the hotel.

Which is the best DisneySea Happy Entry?

With its proximity to Fantasy Springs, the Fantasy Springs Hotel has the most advantageous Happy Entry for that area of DisneySea.

Whilst they are both DisneySea Happy Entries, Fantasy Springs Hotel gives its eligible guests a much bigger headstart on MiraCosta’s Happy Entry guests. This is because MiraCosta Hotel’s Happy Entry guests enter the park next to the main DisneySea entry, a good 15 to 20 minutes’ walk away from Fantasy Springs.

MiraCosta Happy Entry guests will still be making their way across the theme park whilst Fantasy Springs first Happy Entry guests may well be finishing their first and on to their second Fantasy Springs ride. Finally. Arriving yet another 15 minutes later will be the first main entry queue guests.

Therefore, the Fantasy Springs Hotel has the best Happy Entry for one of DisneySea’s most popular rides – Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey, followed by Rapunzel and Peter Pan. Due to its privileged location, the Fantasy Springs Hotel Happy Entry works out to be more like 30-45 minute DisneySea early start than 15 minutes!

Can I get Tokyo Disneyland Happy 15 early entry on check in day?

No, Happy Entry is not able to be used on check in day under any circumstances. Happy Entry passes are given at check in and won’t be given earlier. As check in is from 3pm in the afternoon, it is too late for early entry on the day of check in. Even if you are able to check in early, you won’t be given a Happy Entry pass for that day.

Can I still use the Fantasy Springs Hotel park entry on check in day?

Yes, even though you can’t get Happy Entry on check in day you are allowed to use the Fantasy Springs Hotel DisneySea entry on check in day. You will need to have a valid DisneySea admission ticket plus a Proof of Stay slip obtained from the Concierge Desk inside the hotel at pre-check in. You will need to queue and wait to enter DisneySea at official opening time using the Fantasy Springs Hotel park entry.

Do Tokyo Disneyland partner hotels give early entry?

No. Tokyo Disney partner hotels do offer a complimentary shuttle bus to the Tokyo Disney Resort parks, however they do not offer their guests the 15 minutes early entry pass to the Disney Parks.

Do Tokyo Disney Official Partner Hotels offer early entry?

No. Official Tokyo Disney Partner hotels do not offer Happy Entry. But these hotels shouldn’t be confused with the Tokyo Disney Hotels! The following hotels are called “official” Tokyo Disney hotels by Tokyo Disney. Confusing, isn’t it!

These hotels are the Official Tokyo Disney Hotels. They offer a free shuttle bus service to the Disney parks or monorail, plus a luggage delivery service to and from the Welcome Centre at the Mahaima JR Railway Station. They DO NOT offer Happy Entry (15 minutes early entry).

Does Happy early Entry include children sharing a bed in Tokyo Disney Hotels?

Yes, children aged 4 and over bed sharing in Tokyo Disney Resort Hotels will also receive Happy Entry early entrance Special Entrance Passes. Children under 4 can accompany their parents in any case.

Are the rides open during the 15 minutes early entry at Tokyo Disney?

Sometimes, unofficially. DisneySea Fantasy Springs rides are regularly operational during Happy Entry. Often other rides aren’t open during the early entry period, however you can line up for them. Rides will officially commence operating at the official park opening time. Tower of Terror ride queue is closed during Happy Entry.

What is open during Happy Entry?

Tokyo Disney park services including Pram and wheelchair hire, the Tokyo Disney guest services information office and first aid will all be open.

Do Tokyo Disney Resort partner hotels give Happy Entry?

No. There are no hotels other than Tokyo Disney Resort hotels that offer the 15 minutes early entry.

Do Tokyo Disney Vacation Packages include Happy Entry?

No, Tokyo Disney Vacation Packages do not include Happy Entry. Happy Entry is a separate bonus attached to each Disney hotel and is not connected to any TDR Vacation Package. VP holders can only get Happy Entry for their first Vacation Package day if they book an extra night the night before their VP (with the appropriate Disney Hotel for their VP Day 1 park). Happy Entries are according to the hotel and not Vacation Packages, so also may not align with Day 2 of Vacation Packages if the VP Disney Hotel’s Happy Entry isn’t the correct one for their Day 2 Park.

Do I have to buy our Tokyo Disney tickets at the hotel to use the Happy Hour early entry pass?

No, you just need a valid park ticket (so you can buy park tickets from KKDay or Klook to use with your Happy Entry)

Tokyo Disney Resort (known as TDR for short) has large entry queues into their Disney parks which can seem intimidating at first. However there are some very simple ways to manage your entrance into the Tokyo theme parks to make your Tokyo Disney Resort day work your way.

This article is all about Tokyo Disney’s entry queue – when you should join it, how long it takes – and if you can avoid it altogether.

Is the Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea line really that bad?

Now, about that main entry queue you’ve seen photos of which looks sooo long…don’t feel overwhelmed!

We’ve all seen the social media reels showing an incredibly long entrance queue into both Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea. It’s often played up as this endless-looking queue which will take all day to get to the head of to enter. The thing is, this portrayal is actually quite deceptive. These fear-mongering Tik Toks and Instagram reels may get lots of views – but it’s not telling you the real story.

Why is the Tokyo Disney Entry Queue so long?

Tokyo Disney parks are amongst the biggest – and most popular – Disney Parks in the world. They also happen to be located right next door to the most populated city in the world – over 37 million people live in Tokyo! You know where I’m going here…guess what one of their favourite things to do is? That’s right, it’s go to Disneyland. Hence, Tokyo Disney Resort is always busy – even in mid summer and the middle of winter!

The Tokyo Disney entry queue system works – and it doesn’t take nearly as long as you might think!

Luckily Japan knows exactly how to run equitable and effective queueing systems to manage crowds. You may have already experienced this with their train system. Respectful, neat lines of commuters waiting for those leaving the train to alight first, and only then taking their turn to board. Tokyo Disney is also respectful and efficient. A long, but steadily moving queue and stream of scanning guests at the entrance to get the largest number of park guests inside as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Why do people arrive at 6am in the morning to queue for DisneySea?

This is mainly for DisneySea. They want to either run for the Frozen ride queue to line up, or book Disney Premier Acces (DPA) ride passes to ride Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey (and then Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival) as soon as they enter DisneySea.

DPA ride passes for Frozen often run out soon after Happy Entry is complete. Therefore only the people near the head of the general entry queue may be successful in obtaining a Frozen ride pass. There can even be that there is an announcement around 9am that all the Frozen passes for the day have gone.

There can be random releases of Frozen ride passes throughout the day, however sometimes there are none at all, or they are snapped up very quickly.

Should I queue up early for Tokyo Disneyland?

Disneyland doesn’t require the same dedication as DisneySea. At the moment the demand is centred around Fantasy Springs in DisneySea because it was only opened last year (2025) and so it is regarded as new and exciting.

That said, even though Disneyland can be queued for later, there is still early queue-ers wanting to beat the crowds – or book the maximum number of Disney Premier Access (DPA) passes (particularly for the Beauty and the Beast ride) and the free 40th Anniversary Priority access passes for other selected Disneyland rides.

Unlike DisneySea and the focus on booking Fantasy Springs passes immediately, the people first in line will also be running for their favourite ride – most likely a DPA ride, and the majority heading for the Beauty and the Beast ride.

It should be noted that on busy days the Beauty and the Beast ride DPAs can run out quickly – around mid-morning. If you miss out you are left with just one option – queuing at the ride for around two hours.

Therefore if the Beauty and the Beast ride is your priority, avoid strolling into Disneyland at 10am on a weekend unless you don’t mind long queues, or you have a Vacation Package with a prior ride booking slot.

Why do the queues look so much bigger than the USA Disney parks?

The way that the Japanese system works is that the entry queue is where almost everyone going to into the park for that day is already waiting in line to enter. People will often arrive a few hours early and sit on mats, complete with friends and family.

Remember those photos and Tik Toks I talked about? Well they are usually taken of the queue before the park opens and the queue starts moving. So of course it looks like a great big queue that is going nowhere! The thing is that once the park opens the queue starts to steadily move – and it doesn’t stop until it’s completely gone – around an hour later, or mid-morning.

How long does the Tokyo Disney Resort queues take?

On a busy day, from start to finish the general morning opening time queue takes somewhere around an hour from start to finish. 

As a busy scenario example we have arrived at the very end of the queue right on opening time on a very busy weekend. When we arrived we met the end of the queue up on the walkway leading down from Maihama Station heading towards the Tokyo Disneyland monorail station archway entrance. It took us roughly 50 minutes to get from the end of the queue to inside the park at the entrance scan gate.

Once the general entry for the park opens at around 8:30-40am, those people waiting at the end of the queue will start moving (except for a few short pauses for other queues to merge) and will have entered into the parks by around 9:00am on average. On a really busy day, perhaps even 9:30am.

When is the best day to go to Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea?

There is no perfect answer to this question, but this rough guide usually helps:

Avoid busy days if you can. (Crowd control calendars are often not reliable):

1. Avoid Weekends ❌
2. Choose Weekdays ✅ (try for Tuesday, Wednesday)
3. Avoid Public Holidays ❌ (especially Golden Week)

When is Golden Week in Japan?

In 2025, Tokyo’s Golden Week was from Tuesday, 29th of Apr 2025 to Monday, 5th of May 2025.

Tokyo’s Golden Week is a solid week of public holidays, and so many locals love to visit Tokyo Disney! Generally, Golden Week is the week from the end of April to early May each year. It’s a great time to avoid visiting, if you can.

You also need to check the dates of China and Korea Golden Weeks, as they represent the biggest tourist groups to visit Tokyo Disney Resort.

Is the inside of Tokyo Disney parks just as crowded as the entry queue?

No. It’s busy inside the parks for sure, but there is plenty of room for everyone. Think about it – the parks are massive inside, so everyone in that concentrated queue will be spread out throughout the park once they pass through the entrance gates. 

Is it one long entry queue at Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea?

Yes and no. At DisneySea’s main entrance it’s actually two entrances in forecourts either side of the globe courtyard. There’s not just one queue in the forecourts but several single queues separated by hedges leading to the entrance gates at its two major entrances. Other queues all merge into these single file queues.

At Disneyland, several queues merge at Security then filter through to a spacious open forecourt where people queue together in front of several general entrance ticket gates.

Are the Tokyo Disney queues safe for children?

Yes. Many families queue up for the Tokyo Disney parks. The queues are not pushy. People in Japan are very polite and well-ordered, especially when it comes to queueing.

Can we bring a pull along cart to Tokyo Disneyland?

Strollers are welcome, but pull along carts or push tricycles and scooters are not allowed.

What are people sitting on in the queue?

Most people take a thin plastic sheet or mat to sit on the ground when waiting in the lines or when waiting for parades.

Where can I buy a Tokyo Disney mat?

You can purchase them at Daiso and in the gift stores inside the parks.

Can I take a chair to Tokyo Disney parks?

Yes. Some people take portable, fold up plastic or canvas fold out chairs for queues – you can purchase these online in my Disney Hacks store at Amazon here.

Are there lockers for suitcases & other luggage outside of the Tokyo Disney Parks?

Yes. There are storage lockers of varying sizes right up to large suitcases located at Maihama Train Station near Disneyland.

You will also find lockers at the Monorail Stations outside the parks, and lockers just inside of the parks. You will need cash to exchange or multiple 100yn coins to use them.

Can I go early to hold a place in the line for my family or friends to join me later?

No, this is not common practice in Japan. Queue place-holding is against Tokyo Disney Resort rules and is clearly stated on their website.

Park guests all queue together as a group from the outset with their families and/or friends.

If you think it may not suit your group to arrive together early to queue, then please do consider queuing separately to enter the park at separate times, or arrive together later in the day to avoid the queue entirely.

Our Tokyo Disneyland Holiday Planning Facebook Group members have reported witnessing people being caught out and actually sent to the end of the line, whilst others get away with it.

Either way, queue saving and queue jumping is not a common occurrence in Japan. When visiting someone else’s country, it’s always common courtesy and good sense to follow local rules and customs.

What happens if we get caught joining someone in the queue later?

If you are caught joining a parent or friend in the queue later, you risk being sent to the back of the queue.

I see people queue jumping

They actually aren’t. People who have been there all morning take their kids to the toilet. They already have their place in line and return to it.

Are there toilets located outside of the Tokyo Disney entrance?

Yes there are accessible restrooms next to or near the entrances.

There are also several vending machines to buy water and snacks. You will find some near the Monorail Stations.

Can we leave the queue to go to the restrooms or give children a short walk?

Yes. Once you have all arrived together to establish your place in the queue, there is no issue with taking short breaks away from the queue to go to the toilet etc. provided someone stays at your spot, or you notify a nearby Cast Member.

What if we all need to temporarily leave our spot in the queue?

If you are a single parent or carer and need to accompany your child or disabled person with no one to stay in your place, you can notify a nearby cast member of your absence from your spot. There are plenty of attendants in the entrance queue area.

I have let my kids leave the queue to go to the monorail covered area to get out of a downpour of rain until it stopped and they could return to the queue again.

Can one of us queue and enter to book passes for everyone coming later?

No. Ride pass reservations cannot be booked for others who are not in the Tokyo Disney parks.

You can only make ride pass bookings for people who are already scanned into the park gates.

When all of your party have scanned inside the park, only then can they be included on ride pass reservations.

Can I pre book ride passes in advance from outside Tokyo Disney?

No. You cannot book ride passes whilst in the entrance queue or from anywhere outside of the Tokyo Disney parks, other than booking a Vacation Package which allows you to reserve a selection of popular rides in advance.

You must be scanned into the park and inside the gates to start making ride pass reservations if you are entering as a day-visitor.

Will my bag be searched at the Tokyo Disney gates?

The first step to entering Tokyo Disney is going through the security area. It’s mostly all automated with walk-through scanners, however if you have a larger bag – think back pack rather than handbag or fanny pack – you will be moved off to the side table for a quick bag search. Filtering larger bag searches off to the side keeps the entrance queue moving.

Are selfie sticks allowed at Tokyo Disney?

Yes but the rules say no extending of selfie sticks. Security at the Tokyo Disney do not confiscate selfie sticks at the gate like they do at California Disney. The Japanese system appears to trust you to do the right thing in this regard.

I personally have never had tripods or selfie sticks confiscated or mentioned during bag searches.

Can you take food into Tokyo Disney parks?

Yes, food is not confiscated at security or the scanning entrance gates at Tokyo Disney parks..

What happens at the Tokyo Disney entrance gates?

Once you have passed through security you walk a short distance to join the final short and rapid queues right at the entrance gates. It usually takes only a few minutes to get to the entrance gates and a moment to scan in.

What do I need to scan in through the Tokyo Disney entrance gates?

You need to present your park entrance ticket voucher QR Code in some form, or your Tokyo Disney App with your park tickets already within the app and visible.

Park-goers are scanned in like a supermarket check out counter. All you need to do is hold your QR Code or Tokyo Disney App at the scanner, it registers, and then you walk straight in.

Locals barely pause at the gates. It’s like liquid pouring through a bottle! Us clueless tourists are usually just a little slower, but don’t worry – attendants are there to help you if you have any problem. Your entrance should be very quick.

Can I use a screen shot of my QR Code to enter Tokyo Disney?

Yes you can use a QR code screen shot of your tickets. Be sure to turn up your phone brightness for good visibility.

Where is my Klook Voucher QR Code?

In the Klook App your Klook QR code voucher is stored under Bookings.

How do my Tokyo Disney Tickets get into the Tokyo Disney App?

This happens either automatically from an online Tokyo Disney website ticket purchase, or physically scanned into the app by you, earlier.

Do I need a print out to scan in to the Tokyo Disney parks?

No. But it can’t hurt to take one.

You can take a paper print out of your online QR Code from Klook, KKDay or other online sales website.

Should I scan my tickets into the app before I enter?

Yes you should scan your tickets into the Tokyo Disney App before you enter the park, either in the days before you go or even in the entrance queue to prepare for pass bookings once inside.

What if Inforget to You can still do it inside the parks, but this will slow you down.

Why should I scan my online ticket purchase into the Tokyo Disney App?

While it’s not essential, it is important to have your ticket scanned into the Tokyo Disney app before you enter so that you can quickly book ride passes on the app once you scan into the park, as passes can run out quickly. Also the sooner you book, the more passes you may be able to book throughout the day.

Do children have to have their own phone to scan into Tokyo Disney?

No, children don’t have to have a separate device. The parent can stand at the gate scanner and scan for each family member as they enter, and then scan themselves in last. One device (and Disney account) is fine to use to scan the whole family through the entrance gates. You can do everything for them including book passes by scanning everyone’s tickets into your Tokyo Disney App.

Do I need my passport to enter Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea?

Yes. There is no general passport check at the Tokyo Disney park entrances, however you should have it with you.

If there is a minor child under the age of four a passport may be useful to prove their age (so that they can get in for free).

Also, if you encounter a problem with your ticket at the gate, or have a Disabled Entry Ticket (and apply for a Disabled ride pass inside), your passport may be asked for to prove your identity.

Did you know all tourists in Japan must carry their passport with them?

An important note is that all tourists visiting Japan must carry their passport with them at all times. If you don’t, you are breaking the law.

What if I have a Tokyo Disney Disability entrance ticket?

There can also be a hold-up at the entrance gates whilst they check your proof of disability paperwork if you have purchased a Tokyo Disney Disabled entry ticket – see more about that here.

Is there a shorter queue or a separate entrance for the disabled?

No. As mentioned, there is a cheaper Disability entrance ticket available, and also a return-time disability ride system inside the parks, however there is no skip-the-line system for the entrance queue. When you finally reach the entrance gates they can open a wider gate for wheel chairs (and strollers) to pass through at the Tokyo Disney gates.

How can I skip the long Tokyo Disney entrance queue?

Get Tokyo Disney Happy Entry, or arrive well after opening time.

How do I get Tokyo Disney Happy Entry?

Stay at a Disney Hotel. Disney prioritises it’s guests staying at official Disney properties first. Disney hotel guests are offered early, or “Happy Entry” into the parks for free. Happy Entry allows you to bypass the entire main entry queue and join a much smaller one which will open early to get you inside during the fifteen minutes prior to the official opening time. Neat, huh?

What time should I arrive for Happy Entry?

For the two main Happy Entry queues (Disneyland and DisneySea front entrances) it’s still wise to arrive about an hour earlier than the time printed on your Happy Entry paper ticket. That way you can make good use of those fifteen minutes!

You can always opt to arrive right on time and still stroll in a bit earlier than everyone else in the main queue. Don’t leave it too long though, because you may miss out! The Happy Entry queue eventually gets taken over by the main queue at opening time.

Is the Disney Fantasy Springs Hotel Happy Entry location different?

Yes. For the Disney Fantasy Springs Hotel Happy Entries, you can be a bit more relaxed! There are two Fantasy Springs Hotel Happy Entries, and they should both be a much less crowded. They are a much easier way to enter Fantasy Springs as you are already right there, and so will get a further head start on everyone (because they will need to get across the park from the front entrance to the Fantasy Springs entrance). You will still need to book ride passes if you are staying as an accommodation-only Fantasy Springs Hotel booking and not a Vacation Package with included ride passes.

Which hotels have DisneySea Happy Entry?

Different hotels offer different park Happy Entry access – even if you have a Vacation Package. Basically, most Disney hotels offer Disneyland Happy Entry and the most expensive hotels also offer DisneySea Happy Entry. As it currently stands in late 2025 (and this can and does change), Disney Ambassador (until September 2025), Fantasy Springs Hotel and Disney Miracosta all offer both Tokyo Disney Sea and Tokyo Disneyland Happy Entries.

Even if you only book in to a Disney hotel for one night the day before your park day, it’s totally worth it to get Happy Entry and avoid the long queues and early start to get the best ride passes before everyone else.

Toy Story guests special Disney Sea entrance

Toy Story guests can use the Fantasy Springs entrance to DisneySea after 10am, however as the main queue has cleared by then this isn’t skipping queue.

Should I use the Toy Story 10am entrance?

Maybe. If you aren’t in a rush to get passes or use all of your time during the day effectively, yes the 10am entrance is a great short cut to DisneySea.

As the general queue has cleared from the main entrances by 10am the Toy Story 10am access is no advantage in morning ride pass maximising.

How can I skip the queue without Happy Entry?

If you aren’t staying at a Disney Hotel and would like to skip waiting in line, then you’ll need to arrive well after opening time. Eventually the queue filters through and leaves a much smaller queue behind.

Can I avoid the Tokyo DisneySea queue by entering from the Miracosta Hotel?

No, you need to use the official park Happy Entry early entrance or main entrance until 10am when the Miracosta dedicated park entrance opens.

What time should I arrive at Tokyo Disney to avoid the queue?

It depends on if the day is busy or not. Usually if you arrive somewhere around 9:30am to 10:30am onwards you are clear to go through security and enter the parks fairly quickly – it will probably take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes to get inside Tokyo Disney, providing the opening time queue has been fully cleared.

Why should I arrive at Tokyo Disney Parks early?

If you arrive at Tokyo Disney late – that is, mid morning onwards –  there is a much higher chance of missing out on the “best” rides, as the most popular rides offer limited reservations. These are available in the form of Premier Access (paid) and Priority Passes (free). These ride passes can only be booked once you are within the park, and are released on the Tokyo Disney App first thing in the morning from Happy Entry time until they run out.

Early entry, whether it’s via Happy Entry or the first group of main queue entrants becomes very important to secure DisneySea’s Frozen Fantasy Springs DPA ride pass, unless you are a Vacation Package holder with pre-booked rides. When do Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey Premier ride passes usually run out?

It’s not unusual for Tokyo DisneySea to announce that all Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey ride passes have finished for the day at around 9am. Yes – right at park opening. Happy Entry snaps most of them up, leaving just a few behind for the general queue.

When do The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast ride passes usually run out?

Even Tokyo Disneyland’s famous Beauty and the Beast ride passes regularly run out around mid-morning too.

If you have missed out on the morning DPA passes, all you can do is either queue or refresh the Tokyo Disney App throughout the day in the hopes that some random ride passes appear – which they do occasionally! Be ready, because if they do appear they also tend to get snapped up very quickly.

Tokyo Disney Resort merchandise is wonderfully unique – and exclusive. Often very reasonably priced, Tokyo Disney ears, popcorn buckets, toys and more are only sold inside the Tokyo Disney Resort theme parks and a few outside gift stores. This article is all about Tokyo Disney & USA Disney merchandise – and where to get it outside of the Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea theme parks.

Buying Tokyo Disney Resort parks tickets online for international visitors can be tricky.

There are often problems using international credit cards if you attempt to buy them on the official TDR website.

Are you really buying Tokyo Disney parks merchandise?

Japan Disney Stores are almost always not official Tokyo Disney Stores. Some Japan USA Disney stores are even called “Flagship” Disney stores – but they are nothing to do with Tokyo Disneyland. It can all be quite confusing to us visiting tourists – and it all comes down to the ownership of Tokyo Disney Resort.

Who owns Tokyo Disneyland?

Tokyo Disney Resort (TDR) is owned by the Oriental Land Company, a completely separate company to the Walt Disney Company. The Oriental Land Company buy the right to use Disney’s intellectual property and share some resources like Imagineer ride design.

Tokyo Disney Resort contains the only Disney Parks in the world not owned by the Walt Disney Company. Tokyo Disney Resort’s owner pays for the rights to the Disney franchise, but put their own spin on things – and produce their own exclusive merchandise! This is why Tokyo Disney’s merchandise is so different to regular Disney merchandise – including different price-points! And it’s all completely exclusive to their own stores and parks.

What this means is, you cannot obtain Tokyo Disney merchandise from any of the outside Disney stores, other than the official Tokyo Disney Resort Stores. To confuse matters further, even though you can’t buy TDR merchandise in USA Disney Stores in Japan, sometimes you can buy USA celebratory and otherwise merchandise inside Tokyo Disney Resort – like the recent US Disney 100 merchandise which was sold in the main DisneySea gift store!

Which stores are Tokyo Disney official stores?

Outside of the Tokyo Disney Resort theme parks, you can only buy official Tokyo Disney Resort merchandise from the following official shops:

Bon Voyage (the big official gift store just outside Tokyo Disneyland)

All the official Tokyo Disney hotel gift shops (Fantasy Springs Hotel gift shop is only accessible from Fantasy Springs and not from inside the hotel) and a handful of Tokyo Disney partner hotel gift shops.

Which are the official Tokyo Disney Resort Hotels?

All of the official Tokyo Disney Hotels have their own official Tokyo Disney gift stores. The official Tokyo Disney Hotels are:

Some of the official Tokyo Disney Partner Hotels have their own official Tokyo Disney gift stores. The official Tokyo Disney Partner Hotels with gift shops are:

Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel

Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel

What is in the Tokyo Disney Resort Bon Voyage store?

The Tokyo Disney Resort Official Store Bon Voyage is located on the upper walkway between the Tokyo Disneyland entrance and Maihama Station. It is usually open later than Tokyo Disneyland, and so is a great place to grab last minute gifts on the way to the station or bus stops.

Bon Voyage carries a lot of official Tokyo Disney Resorts park merchandise, including some seasonal merchandise. It does not carry everything. Don’t count on Bon Voyage having that special item you saw in the parks and wished you had bought! It’s always worth checking Bon Voyage however, because you never know what they will stock!

Is the Disney Store in Ikspiari at Maihama official?

No, Ikspiari Disney Store is an American-owned Disney Store.

In Maihama just ten minutes walk from the Tokyo Disneyland and two minute walk from the Maihama JR Railway Station you’ll find the large Disney Store in the Ikspiari shopping mall. Although this store is located very near to the Tokyo Disney parks, this is a USA Disney store, and not an official Tokyo Disney Store.

Several more USA Disney stores are scattered throughout Japan – mainly in Tokyo and Osaka. These are not to be confused with official Tokyo Disney stores.

What do the USA Tokyo and Osaka Disney Stores sell?

Inside the American Disney stores in Tokyo and Osaka you won’t find any official Tokyo Disney Resort merchandise.

You will find standard USA Disney merchandise like Loungefly bags, plush toys and USA Spirit Jerseys. They also sell Japanese UniBEARsity Bears plush toys, plus some limited and exclusive Tokyo and Osaka merchandise.

You’ll often find seasonal merchandise, including for the Chinese New Year, New Year and special Sakura Season plushies. There are exclusive Tokyo and Osaka branded bags, brand collaborations and more. None of which is connected to – or sold inside – the Tokyo Disney parks.

Which are the Japan USA Disney Stores?

We have visited the Japan Disney Stores in Tokyo, including Shibuya (Styled like a castle tower over several levels), Shinjuku (Tokyo Flagship Store) and Ikspiari (near Disneyland).

In Osaka we have visited the Hep 5 Disney Store, one of two Disney Stores in the city.

You can only buy official Duffy & Friends merchandise in Japan from within Tokyo DisneySea.

Can I buy Duffy and Friends at Tokyo Disneyland?

No, you can’t buy Duffy and Friends at Tokyo Disneyland.

Where can I buy Tokyo Disney Popcorn Buckets?

You can only buy Tokyo Disney Resort popcorn buckets from inside the Tokyo Disney theme parks.

Can I get all merchandise and popcorn buckets at both Tokyo Disney theme parks?

No. Some popcorn buckets and some merchandise is exclusive to each Tokyo park. This can also change according to availability. You can find out where to get particular popcorn buckets by asking the cast members working at the popcorn stands.

Can I buy Tokyo Disney Ears outside of the parks?

Yes, you can find Disney Ears in Bon Voyage and many of the official and partner hotel gift shops.

Can I buy Pandora Charms inside Tokyo Disney Resort theme parks?

Yes, you can buy special Pandora Charms inside both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.

In Disneyland you can buy Pandora from Harringtons jewellery and watches.

At Disneysea you can buy Pandora from Bella Minni collections .

They can be frequently sold out.

Can I buy Tokyo Disney merchandise online?

Yes, but only in Japan on the Japan version website.

How do I book a Standby Pass to go inside some Tokyo Disney Shops?

New merchandise (including capsule/Gashapon machines, Duffy & Friends new themes and seasonal merchandise such as Halloween and Christmas) is in such demand that it can often mean needing to book a standby pass for some stores in the Tokyo Disney Parks. This is best done first thing in the morning to ensure you can get into the store in the park in order to shop. You book Store Standby Passes on the official Tokyo Disney Resort App. Some new items are often number limited to your entrance ticket, and can also sell out in days, or even hours – never to be stocked again. If stores are restricted to Standby Passes on your day of visit you won’t be able to enter without one.

 Are there Tokyo Disneyland Official Merchandise Resellers?

Yes there are, however reselling Tokyo Disney Resort merchandise is now illegal, and if you do try to buy from resellers it is usually very expensive to buy it this way.

So the moral of this story is, rather than be like one of the many people suffering from non-buyers regret after leaving Tokyo Disney Resort, if you are deliberating over something inside the Tokyo Disney Parks that has caught your eye, my advice is to buy it!

Booking an official Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Package can be incredibly confusing. Here we’ve done some simple costings, plus added the invaluable experiences of our Tokyo Disney Holiday Planning Facebook group members – and their photos of what you actually get!

Tokyo Disney Hotel Vacation Packages

Tokyo Disneyland offer a few vacation packages that you can book a month earlier than just room bookings alone (which are available three months in advance).

Basically, the “Enjoy Lots Of Attractions – 2 Days” vacation package – includes the following per person:

One night at the below listed hotels (prices vary and are listed below), 1 x Disneyland and 1 x Disney Sea park tickets, Attraction (Premier Access) tickets x 3, 1 x hotel breakfast and some other bits and pieces such as a drink package (Beverage Ticket that includes unlimited soft drinks in the park) and a shoulder bag. The package also includes 1 x exclusive popcorn bucket voucher per booked room (they are called “popcorn cases”)

The next package up (higher cost) includes the opportunity to book a character greeting in advance with Mickey Mouse in Micky’s House or Minnie Mouse in Minnie’s Style Studio (no professional photos are available) at Tokyo Disneyland.

There are also 3 day (2 night) vacation packages available.

How much are Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Packages?

Using the cheapest prices available for all Tokyo Disney hotels on October 1 2023 as an example…

For those who are hesitant about booking the vacation packages due to the high prices, but worried that they may not get their desired Disney hotel when booking slots become available, I’m sharing my own cost analysis for the Toy Story Hotel, based on the 3 Days Attractions package for 2 adults and 2 kids (7yo and 9yo) with bed use (Standard Room Bay View). I’ve used weekend rates for the ala carte cost analysis. JPY has been converted to USD.

For the Aussies travelling;
I just purchased the Toy Story Hotel Vacation Package to lock in my dates (24/12/23-26/12/23) & because it was killing me not being able to book otherwise due to it being Christmas period.

I could only book a max of 2 nights (i wanted 3).

For 2x adults, 12yrs & 9yrs it came to $4,337.24AUD. I thought only a deposit was going to be charged, but the whole amount has come off my card. So be weary of this.

Includes per person:
2 nyts in Bay View Room
2x Breakfast
1x Disneyland Pass + Attraction Tix
2x DisneySea Pass + Attraction Tix
Comes with some other minor souvenir things.

I spent alot of time looking at the different rides before selecting which attraction pass & time. There are YouTube clips for each ride so you can get a glimps what it is like and check height restrictions etc.

What also to be mindful of is, that you have to collect your Vacation Package Documents from the hotel before going to the Park. I didn’t think of this and booked a 9am attraction time on our check in day. So I’m hoping we can pick up super early or the night prior. Of not, we’ll be hustling 🏃🏼‍♀️

Their “Thanksgiving” is always on 23rd and it’s celebrated nationally, where as Christmas isn’t a national holiday for them, which could be the reason for the higher cost. Did the vacation package allow you to book just one room for all 4 of you? I just booked last night 2 adults 2 children (ages 3&6) for $2079 USD, it allows the 3yo to bed share. – Group member

…Their vacation packages are likely still an available as they must reserve a certain number of rooms for these.

The rooms (not in the vacation packages) book out so fast, when I did it they were literally dropping off before my eyes. It is hectic. – Group member

Admin note: At the current time it appears that room packages that include reserved seating for parades applies only to Japanese resident vacation package bookings.

How soon can I pick up my Tokyo Disney Vacation Package park tickets?

General info coming through says you can’t pick up your tickets the night before your first day commences but you can get your tickets from your hotel (some say the Disney ticketing office, however be guided by your personal Vacation Package information) from 7am (not 6am) the morning of your first day.

Whilst you can leave your baggage at your Disney hotel you can’t check into your room early (until check in time later) or get Happy (early) Entry to the parks for that first Vacation Package day.

What group members say…

We stayed at Toy Story but were at the Sheraton the night before our Toy Story check in day. We walked over about 7am, checked in and collected our package tickets/info etc. We were given a room key but access was only from 4.30pm. We didn’t have happy entry for day 1 (DisneySea) but had timed entry passes, drink vouchers etc that could all be used. We then had happy entry for Disney the next day, left all our bags at hotel for the day at guest services and didn’t return until later that night.

What group members say…

You don’t receive the “Package” until your Check in day. It’s a large folder and inside are all your tickets, premium passes etc.
When you enter the park (early entry 15 mins included) cast member will scan the ticket and you can then scan it into the app.

You receive a package with all the tickets, perforated tickets, you rip them off and present them at the gate, they scan your paper ticket.

Attraction ticket is for meet and greets, supposedly shows.
They have scheduled times for all and you select which time after you get the package confirmation.
On the website you sign into your account and go to the vacation package tab or there is a section (can’t remember the name) it’s like a wallet, you open it and it shows the package and dates etc click to add experiences and your choices of premium passes and attractions (Attractions only come with w specific package choice)

Just to add, it is much easier to navigate the package information if you use a browser and better to use the JP site and change the language to English.

Sorry also forgot to mention that premium passes have a select few rides to choose from but there is also a choice for “Eligible “rides that are lumped together e,g poohs hunny hut, Rodger rabbit etc

Here’s an example of some of the tickets you get (depending on how many people booked and how many days.
Each of these are presented in a sheet per day.

The big difference (with Vacation Packages) is you can book the hotel earlier than three months out (around 4 months) so you get a head start. It also includes breakfast, your tickets and booking their version of fast pass for popular rides. But, it comes at a cost. Definitely more expensive than booking everything separately but it certainly is convenient and gives a better chance of getting the hotel you wanted. Same process with the website but just choose vacation package rather than hotel. – Group member

Before you book for Tokyo Disney Resort, avoid these dates…

When is it busy at Tokyo Disneyland?

Public Holidays and Weekends – if you have the option of avoiding Japanese public holidays and weekends, do. They will usually be busier than weekdays.

29 April to early May – Golden week. This is a week containing 4 separate public holidays and is a very busy time at Tokyo Disneyland.

What group members say…

March can also be a hard time to book and prices will be higher because cherry blossoms and spring break.
Early April is usually spring break for both the American schools here (surprisingly there are a lot) and Japanese schools. It’s not the worst time but it will be busy.
Most days in October will be crowded, weekdays included. Though weekdays tend to be slightly less crowded. For the most part Sept 15th- October will be busy since it’s Halloween season.
Sept 15 through just after new years is usually fairly busy and the Disney hotels tend to book up. That’s the start of Halloween then moving into Christmas and then New Years is a big deal in Japan. Right between the end of Halloween and beginning of Christmas can be a tad slower as they transition decorations but for the most part, those few months can book fast. – Megan

Is there a crowd calendar for Tokyo Disney Resort?

Yes there is this crowd calendar website – you’ll need to open it in a browser with a translate option like Chrome. (On a smart phone, right click on the page and select “translate”)

When is the best weather at Tokyo Disney?

February is very cold but fine – jackets and gloves weather.
March & April can be very wet
June to August can be very hot
October and November is very nice weather. Not too cold or hot. Tshirt/light jumper weather.

Premier Access and Priority Pass fast passes

If you need to visit during busy times it can be a great advantage to make use of the new Priority Pass ride queue skipping lane or buy Premier Access fast passes for rides like the incredibly popular Beauty and the Beast ride. You can only book these once you’ve entered the parks.

Where can I book Tokyo Disney Resort Hotel rooms?

You can book official Tokyo Disneyland Hotels on the official Tokyo Disneyland website or through a travel agent – but they don’t get any earlier access than you would booking for yourself.

Let’s start with what we know – the information found on the official Tokyo Disney website regarding official hotel bookings…

From the official Tokyo Disney Resort website:

“Hotel reservations can be made from *11:00 a.m. (*Tokyo, Japan time) on the day three months before your stay.”
“…you can make a reservation from 11:00 a.m. on the 1st of the following month. (Example: For July 31 check-in date, reservations are accepted from 11:00 a.m., May 1.)”

How do I book Tokyo Disneyland Hotels for New Year’s Eve?

It’s possible that the parks may close early on NYE like previous years (around 9pm).

From the official Tokyo Disney Resort website:

“Reservations for stays on December 31, 2023 and/or January 1, 2024 will be accepted from 11:00 a.m. on October 1, 2023. (Reservations for one night on either December 31 or January 1 are also accepted.)”

How many nights can I book at Tokyo Disney Hotels?

From the official Tokyo Disney Resort website:

“Up to five nights and three rooms can be booked at the same time.”

This is the extent of the official Tokyo Disney booking website information regarding bookings.

What I found worked was to already be logged in and have a booking selected already for the day before so all the particulars are already selected such as # nights, # rooms, # adults and children etc then at the right time refresh the page and choose the new date that you want – Rachel 

We are family of 5 and just booked for Disneyland hotel for November – the rooms go super fast (within 4 minutes). I did a few practice bookings to get familiar with the systems and room types etc. Logged on before 11am, made sure I was logged in to my Disney account and clicked through to booking. Hit refresh at bang on 11:00am. We got our first choices, 3 nights in corner room park view in Disneyland and then 1 at Toy Story to experience the theming x – Group member

Just don’t give up. As many have said just keep refreshing. I would agree log on 10 mins before. Even do a search for the last available date with your adult/child info, select the exact hotel and search. Then at 11am, refresh the page and just change the date only.

I believe they either release more or people are just not completing the book or canceling. I accidentally clicked the wrong room type at Toy Story then mistakenly clicked back and everything was gone. At 11:40am quite a few popped up and I got the one I wanted. A tad stressful but I just clicked refreshed literally every minute & was worth it to get what I wanted.

…I have successfully booked Toy story hotel for stay on 31st Oct. I have logged in 10 minutes earlier to get ready, and you really need to refresh at 11am sharp to book the rooms. Within 1 min, partial view and square view were totally sold out. I was lucky to get bay view as I had chose standard view initially. So my advice is 3 months before your intended date, log in earlier and refresh exactly at 11am. I know it sounds crazy, but it works for me. Good luck to all! 😘 – Miki

Multiple date booking problems

(About not being able to book more than two nights) You will have to pick another room at that hotel if available or a room at a different Disney hotel that has rooms available. It’s very unlikely you would be able to stay in the same room. How far in advance you can book Tokyo Disney Hotels?

A lot of hotels here will only let you book 3-6 months out. The Disney ones for example are 3 months out and even before covid it was only 6 months out as the max. – Megan

When can I book Tokyo Disney Hotels for Christmas Day?

According to the official website two months prior booking rule, you will be able to attempt to book Christmas Day Tokyo Disney Hotels accommodation on 26th October. I would do a practice run on the 25th of October 11am Tokyo time just to be on the safe side!

Contact your credit card company- they may not be allowing the transaction as suspicious.

What if I can’t get the dates or booking I want? Hotel cancellations

You are allowed to phone on the day to check for cancellations by phone.

You could keep checking as people do cancel sometimes. And you can always ask at check in just in case. It’s not impossible but they may be able to accommodate a change at check in. – Megan

Tokyo Disney hotels early check in/luggage

You can drop your bags off at reception in the morning of check in day and leave your bags at the hotel while you go to the park on check out day. There are also large lockers for hire at both Tokyo and Mahaima Stations (TDL Station).

Do I need to book breakfast at Tokyo Disney Resort hotels?

Yes, make your breakfast reservations as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

Should I print out my Tokyo Disney Resort tickets?

No, printed tickets are not accepted at the entrance gates. You must have your ticket voucher barcodes or linked Tokyo Disneyland App ticket barcodes on your phone ready to be scanned.

How do I transfer/link my Tokyo Disneyland tickets onto the Tokyo Disneyland App?

Take a photo of your ticket barcode on another phone (or PC) and then scan that barcode photo into your Tokyo Disney App.

What do the symbols mean on the Tokyo Disney App?

What group members say…

Priority pass are the free fast passes they are doing for the 40th anniversary. There are only certain rides you can get them for. I believe you can get a second one after you use the first or two hours, whichever is sooner.

Premier access are the paid fast passes. They are paid per person per ride and are single use. You can purchase as many as you like as long as they are available. Those you can get the next one after the first one is used or after one hour, whichever is sooner. There are only a select few rides at each park that these can be used on.

Entry request is the lottery for shows. You get one chance for each show each day. If you don’t win the lottery you don’t get the show, unless you go to one of the first come first served viewings. Though I don’t believe you get assigned seats and will have a specific seating area (and keep in mind some people line up an hour or more before that showing to get a seat). Also, not all shows/showing will have the first come first served viewings.

Standby pass is for when they are trying to reduce the number of people in each shop or restaurant at a time. Typically those are only needed when new merchandise comes out. They are free and you request it on the app. You will get a time slot that you can enter the shop or restaurant and all persons in your party need to be there at the same time. If you miss you time you miss out on that shop/restaurant. – Megan

Where can I buy Tokyo Disneyland tickets?

Guaranteed Tokyo Disneyland tickets

In addition to the buying TDL tickets from the Klook website, you can buy Disneyland and DisneySea tickets as part of a vacation package, or from the front desk of your official Disney hotel during your stay. 

You can also buy tickets on the official Tokyo Disney Resort website, and at the Welcome Center upon arrival at the train station at Disneyland. You cannot buy them at the entrance gates.

One day single tickets, plus half day, evening and two day ticket passes (finish end of August 2023) are currently available.

Bad points

Non-refundable – Unlike Klook, these tickets are non refundable

More expensive- these tickets usually work out to be more expensive after Klook discounts

Good points:

Guaranteed – guaranteed tickets to both parks are available from official Disney hotels from check in to check out day inclusive (but you can’t buy a multiple day ticket on check out day, just single day tickets)

What is Tokyo Disney Happy Entry 15 minutes early entry?

Guests of official Tokyo Disney Resort Hotels are given Happy Entry 15 mins early entry to Tokyo Disneyland, and some of the luxury hotels also receive it for DisneySea. You can read all about Tokyo Disney early entry in our feature article here.

What are the Tokyo Disneyland partner hotels?

These hotels are Tokyo Disney partner hotels. They offer a complimentary shuttle bus to the Tokyo Disney Resort parks. They don’t offer Happy 15 Entry early entry to the Disney Parks.

Mira costa is the only one (hotel)  in the park but Disneyland hotel is literally right in front of land’s entrance.

Ambassador and Toy Story are both quick monorail rides from the park and have easy access, just a little longer to get to from the parks.

Celebration is the farthest and will take about 15-20 minutes to get to and from once on the bus.

How do I contact the Tokyo Disney Resort Disneyland Hotel?

You can attempt to phone, however unless you speak Japanese there are reports of translator issues or being caught in a Japanese recording loop. I have phoned the Disney Celebration Hotel number about an upcoming booking and there was a translator contacted to assist. It took around ten minutes to contact the translator and there were some difficulties being understood even then.

Disney Resort Ambassador Hotel

We stayed at the Ambassador, it had the free bus to the park, we did Disney monorail instead short walk to that and its cafes. Steps outside hotel there was Disney store and lots of retail shops and restaurants ideal for evening if didn’t want hotel food. Ambassador is old style American not crazy themed but I liked that as we’re not crazy on themed rooms. – Catherine

They have a store with Toy Story hotel exclusive merch, one side is more woody themed and one side is more buzz themed in the elevator entry areas.

There is coin operated laundries available.

The only dining on site is lotso garden cafe which needs a booking and does a buffet for breakfast and offers dinner also I believe.

There was a convenience store in the hotel which was awesome to grab drinks and snacks at a good price.

You only get happy entry to Disneyland (15 mins early) not Disney sea.

All the displays being brand new look great and you only get access to the grounds if you stay there. There is stuff at the front of the hotel and within the hotel.

Rooms are a bit small and not very deluxe feeling but as a place to crash after being out all day it serves its purpose! – Group member

What is Disney Celebration Hotel like?

The budget hotel. You need to catch a free 15 minute shuttle bus for this hotel to reach the parks. Luggage delivery to and from the station is not offered.

…It’s cheap, guaranteed tickets, happy 15 for land, and the *conbini (*Japanese convenience store) is a decent size. We don’t mind the bus ride. – Megan

Hilton Tokyo Bay hotel

Hilton isn’t far, it has a stop on the monorail loop. It’s kinda in between Mira Costa and Disneyland hotel. – Megan

We are currently staying at the Hilton Tokyo Bay. We … booked the Happy Magic room. Room size is great for our family.

Few things we learned…

1-Hotel charges 4000 yen for pool use per person. Only accepts reservations and may be booked.

2-Our stay included breakfast but when we got here they said kids were not included unless we booked them as adults when making our initial reservation🤷🏼‍♀️ About $75usd extra per day for the kids to eat

3-Breakfast buffet is good but the food is the same every day

4- The hotel shuttle does not take you to the theme parks. It only takes you to the Bayside station and from there you need to take the monorail to the parks. The station is less than a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

5-You cannot purchase park tickets at the hotel or at the parks. You need to purchase them online

Can highly recommend Hilton Tokyo Bay (which I believe is next door to the Toy Story hotel & easy monorail to parks). I booked ages in advance after signing up for Hilton Honours, and got it at about 40% off during one of their members only pre sales (not sure if they’re still doing these post Covid tho).
TS wasn’t built on our previous visits but from what I can see is incredibly hard to get. – Group member

We are at Sheraton Tokyo Bay a neighbour hotel and no food other than hotel it’s been our biggest issue – Karen

Yes, I stayed there last Nov. Large room, very specious. The breakfast line can be very long though. The check-in can be long as well. Then you can leave the bags with bell captain so that you can go out and enjoy the park or shop at Inspiraki. – Jane

Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay

Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay is a Disney partner hotel with several shuttles running to disneyland and disneysea. Also, if you take the Limousine Bus from Haneda airport it will drop you directly in front of the hotel. I arrived at the airport at night around 9pm. The JR Shin Urayasu station is also directly connected to the hotel with aging but sufficient malls within walking distance. There is also a convenience store right in the hotel. Getting to Narita airport from the hotel though is a different story. I had to take the free Disney shuttle to Disneyland in order to hop on a Limousine Bus from there. But it was easy and I could take my luggage with me. – Group member

Hyatt regency at Tokyo bay

Hyatt regency at Tokyo bay – we stayed there this week with our 3 kids and we love it! They have a bus to take you Disneyland or Disney sea. Shops are close by and a big shopping mall as well in case you want to do a bit of shopping in a more quiet area.
My daughter was really sick one night, the hotel staff were super helpful as an ambulance was called as well.

Imperial Hotel, Tokyo

We stayed at the imperial hotel (Imperial Hotel Tokyo) and took the train to Disney. We’re going again in 2025, and will probably stay in central Tokyo and take the train again. I hate moving hotels…..and it is such a waste of time. Hop in the train, it’s pretty easy – Group member.

How do I get to Tokyo Disneyland & DisneySea?

There are various ways to get to Tokyo Disneyland. Many are according to budget, and your own travel timetable.
Any journeys arriving at the Disneyland train station of Mahaima also require a five minute walk to the front gates of Disneyland, or an extra (at cost – you can use your train pass or buy tickets at the station) 10 minute monorail ride to DisneySea.

How do I get to Tokyo Disneyland from Narita Airport by train?

You can catch a local JR Train or take an express train. There are two main types. You can take the JR train Narita Express (N’EX – included in a JR Pass) (58 minutes) or Keisei Express Skyliner express train (33 minutes) from Narita Airport to Tokyo Station. Both express trains from Narita to Tokyo run at least once an hour until quite late.

From Tokyo Station catch a JR train Keiyo Line / Musashino Line – it takes about 15 minutes from Tokyo Station.

There is a line painted along the floor at Tokyo Station for tourists to follow to the correct Disneyland destination platform at Tokyo Station.

The journey from Narita to Tokyo station takes between 33 and 58 minutes. From there it’s a JR Rail 15-20 minute trip to Disneyland. Total journey time from Narita Airport to Disneyland station (Mahaima) is around an hour and a half.

How do I book a Limousine Bus from Narita Airport to Tokyo Disneyland?

Tokyo Disneyland offer a Limousine Bus shuttle which runs from Narita Airport to the Tokyo Disneyland hotels. Reserve your ride when you arrive at the Narita airport at the Limousine Bus counter. Reservation/operating hours of 9am to 6pm. You can reserve a Limousine Bus to Narita Airport at your Disney Hotel reception desk. The journey takes 1 hour and 24 minutes.

How do I book a private car from Narita Airport to Tokyo Disneyland?

You can book private cars and vans from Narita Airport to Tokyo Disneyland 

How do I get to Tokyo Disneyland from Haneda Airport?

Airport Limousine (every 30 minutes) and Keisei Bus (every 4 hours) both operate services from Haneda Airport to Tokyo Disneyland.

You can also catch an Airport Limousine bus from Haneda Airport direct to Tokyo city.

How do I book a Limousine Bus from Haneda Airport to Tokyo Disneyland?

Tokyo Disneyland use the Limousine Bus shuttle service which runs from Haneda airport from Terminal 1. Tickets cost USD$10-USD$15 and the journey takes 45 min. Advance reservations are required to travel to and from the airport, or speak to your Disney Hotel information desk – phone 03 – 3665-7220 9am-6pm.

How do I get to Tokyo Disneyland from Haneda Airport by private car or van?

You can book private cars and vans from Haneda Airport to Tokyo Disneyland

How do I get from Tokyo to Tokyo Disneyland?

There are both good train and bus options, or you could catch a taxi or order a private car.

How do I catch a train from Tokyo to Disneyland?

To get to Tokyo Disneyland (and so the Disney Hotels on the Monorail next to Mahaima Station) from Tokyo by train, go from Tokyo Station to Maihaima Station.

From Tokyo Station catch a JR train on the Keiyo Line / Musashino Line. It takes about five-ten minutes to walk from the Tokyo loop line platform via the underground tunnel and auto-walkway to the Tokyo Station Disneyland platform. It then takes about another 20 minute train journey to get to Disneyland.

Follow the painted line on the floor of Tokyo Station to get to the platform to catch a train to get to Mahaima Station (Disneyland). Total journey time from Tokyo Station to Mahaima Station (Disneyland) is around 20 minutes.

How do I catch a bus from Tokyo to Disneyland?

I’m staying in Shinjuku, it will be my first time going and I’m leaning towards taking the direct bus from Shinjuku Bus Station to the park. It’s *¥1,000 (*AUD$10.74/USD$6.88) and a little bit longer, but will save the hustle and bustle of morning rush hour. – Group member

How do I get from Osaka to Tokyo?

Many tourists visit Osaka for Universal Studios Japan and nearby Kyoto to visit the red gates shrine. It’s a distance from Osaka to Tokyo, but very do-able!

You can fly Jetstar (book via Jetstar Australia to connect with your Australian flights) from Osaka to Tokyo.

You can also catch a Shinkansen (Bullet Train) from Osaka to Tokyo.

A low-cost option can be to book a Night Highway bus from Osaka to Tokyo.

Consider a JR Pass if you will be using the Japanese rail system often.

Tokyo Disney Welcome Center with luggage delivery

Located on the left next to the Maihama train station immediately upon exit (same level as the ticket office)  is The Welcome Center.

The Welcome Centre offers several services. You can buy park tickets from the Welcome Centre (not guaranteed), pre-check into the Disney hotels (excepting the Toy Story Hotel), (rooms are available after 4:30pm) and will accept luggage for delivery to most Disney hotels (not Disney Celebration Hotel) and large Tokyo Bay hotels whilst you enjoy the parks.

Is there Tokyo Disney Resort disabled tickets and special needs accessibility ride access?

Where your little princess or prince can get a Disney make-over! Dressed up with hair styled and glitter- not cheap but they look adorable in the end.

Located inside the Tokyo Disney Hotel across from the Disneyland gates.
To make a reservation, go to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Boutique bookings page .It seems you can only reserve a month ahead, so it may be wise to keep a close eye on dates…and do some trial booking runs!

Unlike the US Disney Lightning Lane systems, the new Priority Pass express passes are being described as possibly short-term with “no confirmed end-date”.

Whether they stay in their current form, are discontinued or become a paid feature remains to be seen.

In the meantime at least, during the Tokyo Disney Resort’s 40th Anniversary celebrations the Priority Passes are regularly available and free of charge.

What is the new Tokyo Disney fast pass called?

The new fastpass is named the Tokyo Disney Resort 40th Anniversary Priority Pass.

Does Tokyo Disney Sea have fast passes?

The Tokyo Disney Priority Pass system will be available in both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea theme parks

When does the new Tokyo Disneyland Priority Pass start rolling out?

The new Disney Priority Pass system is now in operation, commencing almost immediately upon announcement and starting on July 26, 2023.

Are Tokyo Disney fast passes guaranteed to be available?

No. The official website states that “depending on park operating conditions”, the Priority Pass system may not be available on your day of visit.

As the Tokyo Disney 2023 fast pass system is still very new, we are yet to determine what would influence the non-availability of the new Priority Pass system.

The only way to know for sure at this point is to check the app immediately upon park entry – and make sure you have your location turned on for the Tokyo Disney App to work correctly!

Does Tokyo Disneyland have free wifi?

Yes but it’s unreliable. You’ll need your own independent wifi to use the ride fast pass systems, as Tokyo Disney’s wifi doesn’t work in all areas of both parks.

How much is a Tokyo Disney Priority Pass?

Unlike the paid Tokyo Disney Premier Pass option, this new fast-pass is available for no extra charge to Disney Tokyo guests.

The paid option, Tokyo Disney Premier Pass will continue to be available to buy for select popular rides such as the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast ride, which currently isn’t available as a Priority Pass selection.

What’s the difference between the Tokyo Disney Premier Pass and Priority Pass?

The Tokyo Disney Premier Pass is a paid option only available for a few of the most popular rides at each Tokyo Disney Park. Because it is a paid option there is less demand and more availability. You can buy Premier Passes more than once for each ride, once per hour so there is more time choice flexibility. You just need to book Premier Passes consecutively. So, one booking at a time. Book, enter your ride, book again after an hour has passed.

The Tokyo Disney Priority Pass is a free option for several rides which is issued on a first-come, first-served basis. You are allocated a time during the day (if there is still availability) for the ride you choose.  You can only use this service only once for each of the available rides. You need to book Priority Passes consecutively. So, one booking at a time. Book, enter your ride, book again or you can book again after two hours – 120 minutes – has passed from your previous ride booking – whichever comes first.

Which Tokyo Disneyland rides have the Priority Pass?

Tokyo Disneyland rides with Priority Pass are termed as “eligible experiences” which will show on your app on the day you are at the park.

Rides currently listed are Star Tours: The Adventures Continue ride, the Space Mountain ride, the Haunted Mansion ride, Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters ride, the Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek, the Pooh’s Hunny Hunt ride and the Big Thunder Mountain ride.

Which Tokyo Disney Sea rides have the Priority Pass?

Tokyo Disneyland rides with Priority Pass are termed as “eligible experiences” which will show on your app on the day you are at the park.

Rides currently listed are the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride, the Indiana Jones Adventure – Temple of the Crystal ride, the Nemo & Friends Sea Rider ride, the Aquatopia ride (only for a limited time during the current special version – ends September 6 2023), The Magic Lamp Theatre, Turtle Talk, Skull and the Raging Spirits roller coaster.

Does Tokyo Disney have a Lightning Lane?

The system works in a similar way to the USA Lightning Lane system, and it’s hoped it will also help with Tokyo Disney’s constant ride queue congestion.

Like the Disneyland California Lightning Lane system, guests can nominate their first Priority Pass Disney ride on the app when they enter the park. The next booking either needs to wait until you’ve scanned in to your existing Priority Pass ride – or be made at least a two-hours after your prior booking. Each ride can only be booked once.

How do I get a Tokyo Disney Priority Pass?

The Priority ticketing system works on a first-come-first-served basis. You apply via the app and are allocated a time range to arrive at the Priority Access entrance (the fast lane, or Lightning Lane as it’s known in USA Disney parks). Close to your time range will receive a QR code on your app.

Arrive at the Priority Access lane entrance during your allotted time range to scan the Priority Pass QR code on the Tokyo Disney App to enter.

Skip the long queue and enjoy your reduced wait time for your chosen ride!

How many times can you use the Priority Access ride fast pass?

2 hours after you make your Priority Pass booking or right after you scan-in to the Priority Access entrance (whichever comes first) you can book your next Priority Pass ride time.

Can you choose the time period you want to use your Priority Pass?

No, you will be given the next available Priority Pass time, if available.

Will children aged 3 and under also be allowed to ride with me during our Priority Pass time?

Yes, 3 and unders can be accompanied by an adult using their Priority Pass on age and size appropriate rides, as per usual.

Can I still buy paid Tokyo Disneyland Premier Access Passes to rides?

Yes, you can still buy Premier Passes at Tokyo Disney parks.

How much do Tokyo Disney Premiere Passes cost?

Prices vary, however you can see a list of the current Tokyo Disney Premier Access Pass prices and rules here.

1. Tokyo Disney Resort exclusive rides & attractions

Whilst the Tokyo Disney Parks feature most of the Disney classic rides, they also have a number of exclusive rides that are worth the trip to Japan for them alone!

Tokyo Disneyland’s Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast ride, Pooh’s Hunny Hunt ride, Monsters, Inc. – Ride & Go Seek ride and The Happy Ride with Baymax, and Journey to the Center of the Earth are all honorable mentions. The Tiki room has Stitch theme too.

Then there’s the unique Disney live shows, and at Disney Sea the ship parades which are a real thrill to behold. Disney Sea doesn’t have a castle like the other Disney parks – it has a huge volcano that breathes fire during the day and night!

There’s all kinds of different rides, parades and variations that make Tokyo Disney Resort a great way to do Disney differently!

2. The unique Japan-meets-Disney atmosphere

Unique to the Tokyo Disneylands is the super-friendly Disney-Japanese-style atmosphere. Everyone really gets into the Disney spirit at Tokyo Disneyland! Guests enjoy singing and dancing along during the Disney parades and musical rides. Strangers wave to each other everywhere. The joy is totally infectious!

Disney staff – or “cast members “as they are more commonly known keep that happiness flowing too. They wave joyfully to you everywhere, just for passing by – and you simply can’t help but wave back at them. Soak it all up and join in the general camaraderie if it feels good – it’s a great way to live!

3. The Japanese Kawaii Disney fashions

People-watching at Tokyo Disney is an activity almost as fun as the rides, as guests love to dress up in Japanese Kawaii (cute!) fashions.

Couples and even groups visit Disneyland together in coordinated matching Disney-themed outfits – and Mickey ears, of course! I don’t just mean matching t-shirts – I mean complete outfits, from top to toe! It is all a gorgeous spectacle to behold – one can only imagine how long it took for some groups to organise their particular look and all get on the same page to do it. Now my own teenage daughters plan their Disney outfits too – it’s all good Japanese Disney fun, after all!

4. Tokyo Disneyland themed food

We all know that Disneyland themed food is delicious. There’s nothing quite like the taste of eating something shaped like Mickey Mouse!

Whilst Tokyo Disney embraces all the Disney food classics (there’s even a special Disney waffle café), they have a few delicious adaptations of their own.

Dotted all around the park you’ll find lots of really unusual flavours at the Disney churro, ice cream and popcorn stands (even Duffy popcorn buckets!). Be prepared to queue for them for at least ten minutes – but it’s always worth the wait!

Disney snacks in 2023 – Minnie’s Besties Bash

Then there’s the special themed food sets, like the latest Minnie’s Besties Bash. It’s simply to celebrate how much everyone loves Minnie Mouse!

You’ll often get included (or be able to purchase separately) a little keepsake like a small ceramic dish, or even a little ride toy. They make great souvenirs, and surprisingly all of ours have made it home in one piece!

5. Why is Duffy so popular in Japan? The Duffy & Friends craze

You may notice a curious phenomenon at DisneySea. Adults walking around with a particular type of cute, fluffy Disney toys – and taking photos of them! The Duffy Bear and Friends tradition at Tokyo DisneySea is a popular craze that is also really sweet and fun.

First you buy your Duffy Bear or animal friend of choice from one of the Disney stores. Then you take them with you as you go around DisneySea.

Along the way you’ll find special photo spots for your toy. There are even little wooden stands for them to pose on! It’s fun to try and find the photo spots, and if you get stuck you can always ask a cast member for their location.

There’s a large shop dedicated to Duffy and Friends in the DisneySea American Waterfront world. You can buy matching ears for you and tiny outfits for them!

Who are Duffy Bear’s friends?

The Duffy and Friends all have their own names and personalities of course. Their names are Duffy (the original bear), StellaLou (a dancing rabbit), Olu Mel (a musical turtle), LinaBell (an inquisitive fox, added in 2021), ShellieMay (a teddy bear Minnie Mouse made for Duffy), Cookie Ann (an inventive dog) and Gelatoni (an artistic cat).

Meet the Duffy the bear character at DisneySea!

Only at DisneySea can you actually meet and greet with Duffy the bear himself. Very cute, we saw him appearing near the Tower of Terror. He was very popular too, with a long line of people waiting to get a photo with him.

Keep your eye out for the Duffy and Friends Monorail too. It’s all too adorable!

6. The Japanese Disney store merchandise

Everyone loves Disney merchandise, but they especially love Disney merch you can’t buy anywhere else!

The huge Disney Tokyo stores are packed full of uniquely designed merchandise.

There are Disney ears including Duffy and Friends ears and seasonal embroidered ears, in addition to the standard ones. Clothes, bags and so much more.

You’ll still find the special Disney 100 merchandise at the large Disney stores in both parks.

Then there’s the masses of specialised Disney boutique stores, including a store just for bags, a store for stationery, a store dedicated to Donald Duck, and even a huge Disney homewares store.

Bring your wallet with you and prepare to throw it in the general area of the Disney cash register – you may be eating noodles at home for some time to pay off your Disney-debt!

One thing is for sure – Tokyo Disney is incredibly fun and wonderful place to visit – it’s like nowhere else in the world! It really is a totally unique and special Disney experience that shouldn’t be missed!

What is at Tokyo Disneyland?

Tokyo Disneyland is a popular theme park in Japan. Modelled upon the original USA Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland also offers many unique attractions.

You may also be surprised to learn that the Tokyo Disneyland Resort is actually two separate Disney parks – Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.

Is it Tokyo Disneyland worth it?

Yes, the Tokyo Disney Resort offers a truly unique Japanese Disney experience.

The two Tokyo Disney parks are quite different from each other, but both are well worth a visit. You’ll find Disney shows, parades, food, merchandise and rides that you won’t find at any other Disneyland anywhere in the world.

All of this and more make a trip to the Tokyo Disneyland Resort a very special Disney experience that shouldn’t be missed!

Which Tokyo Disney Park is better – Disneyland or DisneySea?

Both Tokyo Disney parks are amazing, and whilst both are suitable for all ages, they do offer very different experiences.

What’s the difference between Disneyland and DisneySea?

Tokyo Disneyland is very similar to the original USA Disneyland, and features the Disneyland Castle surrounded by many of the same Disney worlds and rides you may already know and love at California Disneyland. This makes Tokyo Disneyland perhaps a little better suited to those seeking the classic Disneyland experience, such as families with young children.

How many DisneySeas are there in the world?

Whilst there are several Disneylands around the world, including the USA, China, Hong Kong, France and Japan, there’s only one DisneySea.

Is it worth going to Disney Sea?

It would be a shame to miss such an incredible theme park as Disney Sea.

The DisneySea layout has more of an overall steam-punk, ocean theme. There are several differently themed worlds laid out around a large central man-made “volcano”.

DisneySea does cater for younger children throughout the park, but perhaps more prominently features thrill rides and roller coasters over smaller rides. Another consideration may be that DisneySea is a vast area for little feet to cover without a stroller! So, whilst DisneySea has plenty for young children to do, it’s possibly a little more suited for families with teenagers, young adults and couples.

Where can I buy Tokyo Disneyland Tickets in Australia?

Where can I buy cheap Tokyo Disneyland tickets?

The best way to buy Tokyo Disneyland tickets is using Klook, a Disneyland ticket reseller. Klook sell discounted Disneyland tickets.

Klook Disneyland tickets can be bought via the Klook app or on the Klook website in mere minutes no matter where you are in the world.

Once purchased you always have your tickets on your phone, digitally on the Klook app and it’s a simple scan-in process at the Disneyland entrance. This is also a time-saver, because you can skip the long queue for tickets!

Which Tokyo Disneyland tickets should I choose?

The Tokyo Disneyland 1-Day Passport

Perfect for your day at Tokyo Disneyland, the Tokyo Disneyland 1-Day Passport is all you need for a full day of Disney-fun!

The Tokyo DisneySea 1-Day Passport

The Tokyo DisneySea 1-Day Pass is your ticket to all-day fun at Tokyo Disney Sea!

Can I use my Tokyo Disney Klook tickets with the 15 minute early entry “Happy Entry” pass?

Yes, you can use a Klook ticket instead of buying Tokyo Disney tickets from Disney hotels or the Tokyo Disney website. Happy Entry is a separate pass that is given at check in and does work with Klook tickets when entering via the special early entry entrance.

This means you can benefit by buying cheaper, refundable Klook tickets.

Can I cancel my Klook tickets if I change my mind?

Yes, there is free cancellation up until 14 days prior to your booking. After that time there it’s a cancellation fee.

How do you skip the long Disneyland ticket queues?

Don’t forget to download the Klook app so that you have your digital tickets with you, ready to scan at the entrance gate. Scan the ticket, and you’re in!

As long as you have your phone with you, you have your entry tickets to every attraction you’ve bought tickets to on Klook – and that’s peace of mind!

Does Tokyo Disney have ride Express Passes?

Yes, there are two types currently available.
Tokyo Disney Resort has Disney Priority Passes and Disney Premier Access individual express ride fast passes available. They can be purchased on the Tokyo Disney App, and are available for only a couple of the most popular rides in each park. Premiere Access passes come in the form of a one-time-only QR Code which you scan to gain entry to a priority laneway that will funnel you down to very close to the front of the line. You can watch the priority laneway ticket scanning process here.

How do I buy Disney Premier Access ride passes?

To purchase a Disney Premier Access pass on the Tokyo Disney App, you will need to be in the park with your digital entrance tickets registered on the Tokyo Disney App.

To register your Klook Disneyland tickets on the Tokyo Disney App, scan your Klook ticket barcodes into the app by using two devices – one to display the barcodes (you can screenshot and airdrop, or photograph them if necessary), and one to scan them into the Disney App.

How much is an express pass at Disney Tokyo?

You can only have one Premiere Access ride booking active at a time, and you can only use them once. Prices vary, and I have listed them below.

We bought four different Disney Premier Access passes on our recent visit.

Our Premier Access passes purchased at Tokyo Disneyland

The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast Premier Access price: 2,000 yen each ($22.70 Australian dollars each)

The Happy Ride with Baymax Premier Access price: 1,500 yen each ($17 AUD each)

Skipping the queues on these two rides alone saved us approximately three hours wait time in total.

Our Premier Access passes purchased at Tokyo DisneySea

Tower Of Terror Premier Access price: 1,500 yen each ($17 AUD each)

Journey to the Center of the Earth Premier Access price: 1,500 yen each ($17 AUD each)

(You could also buy Toy Story ride passes)

This saved us at least two hours of queueing time.

Is it worth buying Disney Premier Access Passes?

Yes. Time is precious at Disneyland, so it makes good sense to purchase express ride passes where possible and save queueing time. That way you’ll have more free time to do other rides, or see shows that you wouldn’t want to otherwise miss!

The Tokyo Disneyland Resort App is essential to make the most of your visit. You can navigate to restaurants, rides, check for event times and other points of interest. You can check ride wait times, book and pay for Premiere express ride tickets and much more.

What are the best days to visit Tokyo Disneyland?

Tokyo Disney Resort is very busy all of the time – winter and summer, but you can maximise your chances of slightly lesser crowds by going on a weekday and avoiding weekends and public holidays.

Ride queues do usually lessen later in the day and into the evening on many rides, but the popular and newer rides can stay busy right up to closing time.

Be aware that ride queues can close earlier than the Disney parks official advertised closing times if the queues are too long – so don’t leave your favourite rides for last!

How long do you need at Tokyo Disney?

Because each Disney park is very large, you need at least a full day to explore each park.

I would recommend at least one full day – preferably two days – in each park for maximum enjoyment. Why rush a good thing, after all?!

Can you do DisneySea and Disneyland in one day?

The two Tokyo Disney parks are located next to one another on the same peninsula. Their park entrances are a short distance apart. They are connected via shuttle buses, or the Tokyo Disneyland monorail loop which also services most of the official Tokyo Disneyland Hotels.

So theoretically, yes, you could visit both parks in one day.

For example, you could spend the morning at Disneyland and then jump on the monorail and spend the afternoon and evening at Disney Sea – or vice-versa!

But really, there’s no way you could enjoy both of the Disney parks fully – there’s just too much to see and do!

If you only have one day to spare, it’s better to concentrate on just one park – and leave the other for another Japan trip. (What a great excuse to return!)
