Staying in an apartment hotel saves money

The Mimaru Tokyo Ueno North Apartment Hotel

Being an apartment hotel, the Mimaru Ueno North hotel is great for families because it has more room than an average Tokyo hotel room, and lots more room features.

Our apartment was a good size and could have slept six

Our apartment was a good size and could have slept six

Our apartment’s layout was modern and spacious, with enough beds to sleep up to a family of six.

Off the entrance hallway was a private bathroom, with a separate bath and shower on one side and a separate toilet on the other.

The large main living space featured four single beds (pushed together to make doubles) along one wall and two large bunk beds along the end wall. Along the opposite wall was a wardrobe big enough to hold everyone’s clothes, a desk and a dining table.

At the other end of the main room was a TV cabinet and TV, and off the main living area was a kitchenette.

This layout proved perfect for us during our stay. It was so good to have lots of room to spread out and relax, plus there was even enough room to open out all of our suitcases and still have space to spare!

Big enough to sleep a family of six

The girls loved their bunk beds, which had their own power points and USB outlets – perfect for their tablets and phones.

The bunk beds were large enough to accommodate adults, and had the top bunk had a safety barrier to prevent falls. The bunk bed ladder was metal, and secured to the bed structure.

I was very happy sleeping in my comfortable bed. I also had my own power points and USB outlets (which are particularly handy if you only have one or two Japan adaptors!) along the headboard.

A good sleep is so important when on vacation, particularly if you are staying at a hotel for more than one night – our beds at the Mimaru Ueno North were all very comfortable.

A modern, clean bathroom

The ensuite bathroom was very clean and modern, with twin vanities and lots of thick fluffy towels.

Bathroom amenities such as shampoo and conditioner were included, with extras available from the help-yourself table in the hotel lobby.

There was a separate room for the full-sized bath/shower off the vanity room.

Located across the hall from the bathroom was a separate toilet. The toilet was a fully automatic Japanese toilet with bidet functions and even a heated toilet seat! Bliss!

Having the three separate sections of the bathroom being able to be closed off for privacy means you can have all three areas in use at the same time, which is great for families!

The convenience of a kitchen on holiday

The apartment kitchenette was so convenient

The apartment kitchenette was so convenient!

I really appreciated having a kitchen and dining table in the apartment, because it meant we could save both time and money whilst we were away.

The kitchen was fully fitted out with everything we might need to cook or serve up meals and snacks whilst on holidays.

There was a two-burner cook top stove, a microwave and a full-sized refrigerator.

Appliances included a hot water jug and toaster, and there were plenty of pots and pans, crockery, cutlery and utensils.

The kitchen was so handy for making dinner if we wanted to stay in for the night. Some nights we brought back takeaway to eat at the dining table, and I loved that I could just go and make myself a coffee in a proper kitchen.

Can I order a MIMARU Hotel breakfast?

Yes, breakfast sandwich sets (with fillings such as smoked salmon and cheese) can be ordered at reception as long as your order by 2pm the previous day.

A 24 hour hotel laundry

The coin operated laundry had several washing machines and dryers. There was also a coin operated washing powder dispenser.

As Tokyo was our last stop on our Japan holiday, I was very relieved that I could catch up on all our laundry that had been accumulating without having to leave the hotel.

Free WiFi and a smart phone in the room

We loved that the Mimaru Ueno North had free Wi Fi. Our room also had it’s own smart phone to call reception, find out information, and even keep track of any laundry in the machines. This was a fantastic room feature.

Where can I store my suitcases in Tokyo?

Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel staff. They happily stored our baggage securely for us on our last day until we were ready to come back and retrieve it before going to the airport.
