Sovereign Park Motor Inn family review – Ballarat
Our family love the Sovereign Park Motor Inn for various reasons – we stayed there during our recent Victorian road trip and found it to be a home-away-from-home…
I like the Sovereign Park Motor Inn because it ticks all of my Motor Inn boxes.
Firstly, their location is just about perfect – not far from the city centre and just one kilometre from, and on the same road as, Sovereign Hill – the tourist attraction.
It’s nicely maintained and modern-looking on the outside. The grounds and gardens are attractive, and you really can park at your room door, and not ten cars away.
Our room is the family deluxe spa for a standard rate of $270 per night.
When you walk in the room, you notice that the furnishings are clean, new and modern. There’s a one-way see-through blind out to the courtyard so you can have light but maintain privacy. Other room features include excellent air conditioning, a large flat-screen TV, kitchenette with microwave, toaster and a generous half-fridge.
All the information you need is right there on the desk. Free wireless internet is available in the rooms (you just need to ok the terms and conditions to get it working), and the password is also displayed on the desk. Little things that make life much easier. If I had a dollar for every time I had to search just for reception’s phone extension number, or the wireless password to no avail…
They don’t skimp on the tea and coffee sachets either – another little thing, I know, but when you’re far from home, late at night and you just need that fourth cup of coffee with two sugars, you can have it!
The bathroom is large with a great shower (we all know that’s a big one!).
Located at the front of the Motor Inn complex is a major asset to this Motel – the connected Red Lion bar, restaurant and café.
The Red Lion has absolutely delicious food that you can order by phone and they can deliver as room service for no extra charge, or you can eat in and the kids can play in the excellent covered
kids playground whilst the adults get some head-space – Aaaah! This playground restaurant is as family-friendly as you get on the road, and perfect for traveling families with kids that need to burn off some energy after those long cooped up car-hours!
The Sovereign Park Motor Inn isn’t one of those basic, or run-down motor inns, but a deluxe one – yet at very competitive prices.
The kids love the Sovereign Park Motor Inn because it has an “awesome” (end Samantha and Brooke quote!) pool. The pool for us is a must. We had looked at some other Motor Inns online first, including the one inside Sovereign Hill and found they didn’t have pools, so this was one of the factors that decided us on the Sovereign Park Motor Inn.
So soon after we arrived when we went in search of the pool, we got quite a surprise when we found that the Sovereign Park Motor Inn goes far beyond the expected when it comes to sporting facilities. There’s actually a complete indoor sporting complex, with tennis court, pool table, table tennis table, gym and of course the huge indoor pool with little kids pool, water-falls and Jacuzzis. Amazing!
We thoroughly recommend the Sovereign Park Motor Inn, particularly if you are staying more than one night, and are looking for a top quality Ballarat Motor Inn with brilliant facilities!
